Then either you are older than I am, or you got started being a daddy real early!

Yeah... add kids to the mix and you really limit the Head-Fi monies... Unless your a 6 figure earner, but even then it all scales proportionately. :D

I'm 45, and I have 4 kids - 26 (daughter), 25 (son), 20 (daughter), and my 9yo (son). Plus I'm a grandpa. I'm only as old as I let myself feel,...depending on the day.

It's all relative - a 6 figure earner in SoCal is barely able to pay the rent! I honestly don't know how kids can afford to live here - I'm just glad we managed to scrape together the money to buy our first home way back in 1987. The down payment required to put 5% down on a $500K home is $25,000.

Want to see what $500K buys you around here? How about a 900 sq ft (NOT a misprint) house built in 1929? My first house was very similar to this. I paid $127K in 1987 and sold it for $185K in 1991.

And don't pay attention to the picture of the beach - the house is NOT on the beach - it is ~1-2 miles from the beach and has no view.

Tis true, I had a buddy that was in San Diego for a while working tier 1 network support for a major ISP, he moved down from Nova Scotia for the job. Pulls into the parking lot next to Pantera's TVR's, BMW's and the like, $3.5K a month for an apartment etc... The wages were so high that the cost of everything is proportional.

The same here with Fort McMurray Alberta everyone went there to get in with the big Oil Sands project, people serving coffee at Tim Hortons are getting $20 an hour... And a Sharps container on every corner lamp post cause the needle drug problem is so bad. The municipality figured if they provided containers it might lessen the chance of children and city works getting stuck with dirty needles.

Now it y'all want to live in Detroit, you can get a nice house that is actually bigger than the one listed in Ventura for $10K don't quite know about the neighbourhood though...

We don't even have beaches here.

Yes but Vancouver has a very wealthy Asian populace.

You don't have to tell me twice.
I see people with absolute no idea on audio buy HD800s for themselves at an appalling rate. At least 5% of the friend's and acquaintance houses I have visited, there's a person in that household who owns one of these. And I have a lot of acquaintances unfortunately.
I wish I was making this up. I really do.
