Longest serving IEM in my collection. If you like that pristinely clean type signature with a guttural but precise sub bass you’re in for a treat.
Sounds like the HE1000 Stealth, which I've fallen madly in love with. 😁

Don't know if this is the right place to ask, but is the IER Z1R still considered the top bass performer in 2024? I've heard a few IEMs but am yet to come across one with a very strong yet resolving bass. So far, the V16 Divinity has been very good with bass resolution but I can't get it to EQ and still sound clean in the low end. The XE6 sounded a bit bloated to me but I didn't try changing tips on it for the short time I got to demo it.

Many consider it still one of the best in resolution, therefore, can't be dark, I heard complaint about its treble on the other hand.
Many people say the Neumann NDH-30 is dark, but I don't agree at all. It's really all subjective.

Thats not quite true. High end dacs can sound very different and make more difference than an amp. Something like May will sound very different to Wandla or Dave. Yet alone summit fi stuff like higher end lapizators or something like wavedream signature balanced.

The headphone will make the biggest difference though.

Pretty much I totally agree with this statement. The sound differences between high end DACs are huge, even in sound character.

For entry level market, many chi-fi DACs definitely sound similar one to each other, and may started to create opinion like "all dac sound similar, not worth the upgrade"

I hear it to be fairly neutral and analogue in character, but the special sauce for me is how it handles imaging and staging. It does a tremendous job at filling your head space even in the corners, notes sound big. Also the way it helps resolve the smallest and most faint details is quite exceptional.

At the end of the day it’s just cable, I bought it because not only does it sound great but it happens to look really nice with Storm too and that was a large part of the appeal.

I found Z1R's bass to be top notch for both slam and texture/timbre. On top of that it's very resolving, tactile, and musical. And that comes from a bass moron (ask around here should you need proof 😁) as much too often I find it just in the way of the music. Like, for instance, with the other IEM you mentioned.

I did like the bass of Ragnar, Rn6, and Volür a lot too.

The Volur is an interesting one. How does the low end resolve on it ? Under 200hz. Comparable to the Z1R or still outclassed?
