Every year around this time I get a little bored and decide to freshen up my collection. I already decided to buy the Fir Radon 6 since I’ve always wanted a Fir IEM just never loved the XE6. What else is newer and interesting that I should add to my collection? I like W sound signatures over deep V or U signatures. My daily driver has been the Jewel, so maybe an update on the daily driver and something else interesting. Also does anyone know if you can download playlists in the Tidal app on the SP3000, my old 2000 was a hassle to do anything on so not willing to deal with that again? Thanks everyone

A rare Friday evening all to myself… enjoying some new music, a new-to-me Dr Juggles cable paired with Xe6 and some couch lounging with my cat.

Happy weekend, coolers!

Check out NGaudio Erebus, it’s pretty much what you described, a Jewel as if created by Fir.

*edit, cards on the table I haven’t heard Jewel. Though the thought of a Jewel-by-Fir is what I have in mind when I listen to the Erebus.

Thanks, do you know how it compares to the Fei Wan? Might ask Andrew from Musictech about the Erebus vs Fei Wan, both seem interesting.
+1 to Erebus, though I find it less extended than Jewel.
To me, Erebus is pretty relaxing. It occupies a darkish W-shaped signature that does very good on folk/singer-songwriter genres. Fei Wan is actually the opposite; it sounds pretty exciting with more treble quantity that probably suits electronica.

I find them to provide a yin/yang complementary experience. Lots of common dna between them as far as refined TOTL-level listening experience. Similar upper-tier technical performance, though with Fei Wan being more energetic and Erebus more relatively relaxed. Fei Wan is more V shaped compared to Erebus’ balanced profile, with both featuring great bass quality. They both sound terrific with many music genres, live or studio, vocal or instrumental, complex instrumentation or soloists. Fei Wan has become a specialist for me with its upper end energy that becomes fatiguing, while I can listen to Erebus all day. That said, Erebus also has an energetic upper mid quality at points.

Here's to hoping they sound crap and save my wallet: 🍻
My catchphrase these days literally.

"If x was made by FiR"

TAKE THAT BACKKKKKKKK

That is a very dangerous statement and my wallet will probably gain sentience and attack me if I get a other iem at this point.

VE knocked it out of the park with this one.

Organic, musical, engaging, rich, vivid, fullness, tactile, smooth, romantic, comfortable are just a few of the words I would use to describe this IEM. Handles any genre with ease.

Curious to see the next IEM that wants to contend with this type of sound/tuning.

Are you familiar with the VE8? If yes, how would you compare the two?

Or maybe with the EXT? (nvm this one.. found a few already)

Cheers and plenty of thanks!

Wanted to give a shoutout to @btwine, great member of this thread / forum and great seller too, it was a pleasure dealing with him. He sold me his Trifecta this week (been on the hunt for the right deal for a while now) and while I’ve been dealing with a maddening ear infection from a sinus infection 😡. I’m just getting some time tonight to listen to them.

They are right up my alley as far as W or V sound sig. preferences. They are a bit too bombastic still with this EI to listen to my normal Electronic playlist so listening to more vocal/folk stuff and they are great for this at present.

EI notes, my normal say a 2 on a 10 scale (10 being 100db) tinnitus was ratcheted up to an 7 or so for over 48 hrs and only out of one ear so it was maddening as all get out. I can understand that my fear of the tinnitus getting “bad” in coming years is very warranted. I empathize with those that have endured this for many many years and especially with those that ultimately couldn’t bear it anymore RIP.

Good news is I’m seeing a good ENT early next week were I hope to get a full battery of tests and scans to see if I could be lucky enough to have my tinnitus be Eustachian tube related versus the more nefarious “we don’t know where the hell it’s coming from” kind.

Another note on the Trifecta is that they actually are one of the best fitting IEM’s I’ve had the pleasure of wearing. Bonneville and it’s kind while better than Odin for instance still require me to pull on my earlobe to get the iem body into my ear and these Trifecta sit outside the outer ear opening with enough nozzle depth to reach inside.

Very happy with these so far, and could be a great compliment to the FAudio Mezzo I have and like a lot.

Have a Great weekend everyone and thanks for the recommendations on Trifecta.
