I am going to CanJam London again this year. Last year was my first visit. Amazing.

Really want to make it to London this year, but my Kung Fu brothers are planning a week long’s training retreat same time, and if my recovery from double partial knee replacement (going really well) is on track, I may have to join them. 50/50 🤷‍♂️ either way, I’ll be in the midst of one passionate community or another that weekend 😊🙏
Will definitely be doing SoCal and Dallas this year!

Although I think that ± 80% of my listening time is absorbed by iems nowadays, here some pics of my current (low/mid budget) hp/desktop collection...

Compared to what I've spent on portable (iems/daps/cables) gear so far, it's a lot of fun for really (as I was able to pick up everything at great 2nd hand prices on various market places) not that much money.

Btw, the Grados are still my 2 favorites, followed closely by the Quad. Of course it's also always a matter of synergy, depending on which source you use :)
The Quad Era 1 gets my vote as the most criminally underrated headphone. A really great headphone that's also light and *mostly* comfortable.

We are going to have a Watercooler contingent at CanJam London. I am making tags for those who want one and to participate. If you are interested, send me a PM and I will add you to the list. Originally did this so that we could more easily identify each other. We have a large group in North America and Asia who participate, we are looking to get more European representation.

Anyone with a little DIY know how should really give an AVC / TVC a try! For a little over $1K, you can get Intact Audio's AVC built into a 47-step switch. Really no going back once you've heard it vs. a resistive pot.

Here's mine, built in a separate chassis for my main headamp.

One RCA input & one RCA output? Eima 47?

I want one! But I need 2 outputs.

(chewing through restraints at the thought)

PS: this is really nice work

Yeah Dave uses a custom ELMA switch made for him, 47 steps. Could definitely add a switch and a second set of RCAs for two outputs!

Thrilled that you created this thread. It is welcome and long overdue.

I have been spending part of this weekend with the Mass-Kobo 465 connected to both my Sus and Empyrean to see what it can do for the Empy. I am happy to report it is actually able to open up the Empy a bit in the mids and treble while tightening up its already strong bass response.

i got the riviera finally but still love to hear the mk465 with sus one day.

🙏

You and I will walk the SoCal show together. I’ll find a great closed-back set for you… 😉

There's going to be so many ZMFs, Focals, Audeze, Sennheiser, Dan Clark, etc. to go through.

Anyone finding tube amps generally pair better with NOS DACs (no HQPlayer or any other external oversampling software)?
All my NOS DACs pair well with ECP DSHA-3F which has slightly bigger headstage than normal SS. I do use Freya+ in tube mode as pre from time to time though.
But yes, in general tube amps do pair well with NOS DAC if you are not using HQPLAYER as HQPlayer does help with head stage and imaging a bit with NOS DACs.

Like Zachi, this headphone from ATH has my heart as a crossover headphone. ATH-AWKG paired with N30LE DAP

Me as well. The OS on tubes sometimes sounded too diffused and airy while NOS brings the balance back to perfection in my experience
