The Sony MDR-SA5000 Thread

Just wanted to post that i recently bought some new earpads. The deloni beyer dt lambskin has ones. NOT the fenestrated ones..

They more or less have done what i expected.
Keep in mind i have never heard this headphone with original earpads, but just cheap ones off ebay.

Has brought up the overall tone of the headphone.m including the bottom end. Vicals have come a little more forward as part of that. Or at least compared to what I’m used to.

Still, for me, very nicely balanced when using with my wa2 amp. A good match even though the amp is an otl looking for heaphones with high impedance. Also pretty good with cayin iha6.

All this with an old black dragon cable

It’s like an overall fuller sound (say by 10-15%). A little more vibrant as well. Very confy. Good size ear openings.

This headphone still gives me a wow factor like the hd800 still does for me. The lcd2 and elear (though enjoyable) don’t give me that anymore. Perhaps that’s due to my preferences. Probably is.

Hello Head-Fi / SA5000 ers!

I have a pair that I'm looking to sell, was wondering what a fair price to ask would be? All stock, perfect working order with stand. Not sure if ebay pricing is really fair market value or not. Thanks!
I sold my pair quickly for about $375 usd here in Australia.
Mine were in good condition, black dragon cable and new dekoni ear pads ( they added weight to the sound).
Buyer was happy and so was I.

Perhaps you’ll get $500 usd if in great condition and if you are patient. IMHO

Though these are great (and fast) they have been outdated.

Did you have the original ones installed before these? Can you post the link to AliExpress? Thanks

I can't tell if they are original or not but the pads were flaking off lightly by the time I purchased them a year ago.

I got the pads just today from AliExpress, they should be able to ship worldwide:

was trying to find the seller on Taobao but by chance I stumbled upon a MDR-SA5000 and MDR-CD900ST modding & repair service in China:

Just a quick bump, anybody have any input on the condition in the pics I posted? Here's the link again: https://imgur.com/a/DSsQYbt I realized in my previous post I said they were rusty.. that should have been dusty lol. There's no rust :)

The pleather has started to flake off of the ear cups as I've been using these more lately, so I've ordered the set listed above as a replacement.

My Sony MDR-SA5000 pads are still perfect but if you want to get a good replacement pair of pads with the same shape like the original and real leather you have to get these
