I'm in, haven't bought anything in awhile. Fan 2 sounds up my alley, relatively inexpensive and great sound. Looks good too.

I think you’re not alone on this one. New to the Penon’s family with my Serial coming on Wednesday, but I was awaiting something like a TOTL tribrid à la 1DD, 4BA, 4EST.

This 2DD/2BA infrastructure doesn’t exist yet, I think?! The Z1R has 2DD and 1BA, but the BA is for the mids.
Dunu Vulkans obtains this configuration which by the way its supposed to be the epitome of a total fun signature with deep bombastic bass prescence

Very tempted by Fan 2, but I've been close to buying Serial for the 2nd time, and I think it will have more sub focus?

In other news, Penon OSG has found a new home on Softears Twilight. Such a beautiful cable.

Of course... you are a true Penon Fan! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Yeah, I suppose so. I'm a basshead, really, but the Penon Mids - still outstanding. Cannot forget when I bought the Orbs! My jaw dropped @ those Mids, coupled w/ great Bass (@ least for me), and that sound field!

Vortex is the most compact and physically smallest of the 3.. The Fan2 with 2 smaller dynamics and 2 BAs it is more closer to the size of the Serial vs the Vortex. Has the longest nozzle out of the 3 housings.
Hello,

First of all I wish you and your family a speedy recovery. When I suffered from covid I had very annoying periods of memory loss. Fortunately they passed along with the damn disease.

How would you compare the FAN 2 with the H50, I loved the latter but I found the treble too high for my punk/post-punk. I'm looking for very permissive iems as I'm very sensitive to the treble region.

Cheers mate!

IEM to get from the Penon line. I would say is the Orbs.

The direct upgrade from the Orbs are the Globes. Serial is another one that would work great for you.

H50 graph vs Fan 2

It wouldn't surprise me if your sensitive to 7-8khz region. That is the area that accentuates crash symbols for drums. As you can see the graph of the Fan 2. That area has less emphasis so crash symbols are much better controlled due to the dip in the 8Khz region. The Orbs has the least amount of treble presence but sounds proper with a pure silver cable. To be honest with you. Any of the Penon IEMs will be fine. None of them emphasizes that 8Khz region. ISN IEMs the H50 and the H30 does.
