I wouldn’t consider the 1A as much underpowered as much as I might say that your can selection typically asks for a bit more amp in front of them. Don’t you think? At least in my experience it seems that way.

There is no question in my mind that the WM1A is under-powered. Compare it to much of the competition and there is no contest. As I stated, it is acceptable with the phones I use it with, not ideal.

Hello this thing of power , for me is just a specification nr, i had a dx200 and without doubt for the price is an excelent player but with more than 1 watt declared, i feel that me 1Z at the same level of spl it plays much stronger, thats what happened with my previous 1A , the sound is less powerfull and more flat, and the specification power is the same...

Has anyone change the firmware for the European capped version and would like to help me? I just bought a wm1z european capped version.
I have been reading the rockport site to remove the volume cap but dont dare to do it yet.

May i ask, should i update the firmware to the latest before i hack the firmware? Or if i hack and later update the firmware will it reset and i have to hack again.

If i hack it and fail, how do i reset it to the factory firmware? I never done this kind of thing and are afraid of failing as i have limited computer experience. Is there any friendly person here that would like to guide me?

Yeah who needs Sony?...decided to give up my 1Z and switch to the upcoming S8 as source, since Samsung can promise me regular Android updates

I'm a bit late here, but 1Z doesn't have Android, so you cannot really make a comparison between the two.
