Has anyone compared a newer T1 to an older one recently and noticed any physical differences? (i.e. serial number in the 77xx range vs 47xx).
 
I swear the strain reliefs going into the cups (and maybe even the cable ) are beefier on the newer ones.  But I may just be imagining it.  I am going from memory after listening to a newer one and never had them side by side.

The headband cushion is different to the older models, can't remember since which serial number. Newer is softer and different shaped. Old has circular profile and new a rectangular one.

The change I was wondering about (strain reliefs into the ear cups, cable) would be after the headband update. Definitely starting to think I imagined the difference I thought I noticed.

I listened to the T1, LCD2 and HD800 last weekend. The T1 sounds the most balanced whilst the LCD2 sounds muffled in comparison. The HD800 sounds too thin and lightweight in the bass. The T1 sounds the best to my ears. Great sounding cans!

I think that depends upon the tools and skills at hand, but you can do a google search on it and find out if you're comfortable doing it yourself.
