@peter123

Based on previous conversations I have an understanding of your preferred sound signature so I have to ask...

Newheadphoneititis aside, if you were going to a deserted Island (with electricity and WiFi of course), and you could only take either the vsd3 or b3 pro I with you, which would it be?

PS- yes amps and audio players are allowed too.

You're on the stand my friend, you've been sworn into the court of head fi, and the jury needs your testimony. Please answer the question sir!

"OBJECTION YOUR HONOR!" says the witnesses who have received their pre-orders...

"OVER RULED!" says all of the head fiers who are curious to see what your answer will be...

Answer the question...

Please?

Oh boy, tough decision. How many hours for this solo? Food, beer, girl friend(s) allowed? First thing first, has he totally recovered from knee surgery?:D

Oh dang. When I saw Mochill talking about how great these were, I was trying to member all the other times I'd seen him talking up a new pair of IEMs, but this is just crazy.

Mind comparing the VSD3S to the Tenore??

I'll try to do it later today but it won't be as detailed as the B3 comparison.

  Thank you peter!

Glad you enjoyed it
beerchug.gif

Nice comparison Peter, I have them both on the way, can't wait to listen to them

Thank you. You're about to be a very happy man
gs1000.gif

Hmm has anyone ordered from penonaudio.com? They're selling the VSD3S black for $60 flat free shipping. Very tempting, only about $10 more than lend me ur ears.

Penonaudio is a great seller. Buy with confidence
tongue_smile.gif

In a way, based on a what Peter is saying the Havi B3 sounds like the Sennheiser IE80, but the B3 sounds more natural than the IE80 and there less sub bass on the B3 than the IE80. As can't say much for the Soundstage and Headstage, but the clarity could be better on the B3 than the IE80. So basically it sounds like Havi learned how to master the Sound Signature of the IE8/80.

By looking at them there's not much doubt that Havi was inspired by the IE80 in the design. Haven't heard the IE80 so can't comment on the sound.

But you enjoy it more when you see it after listening more and more and will treat them like babies.
wink.gif

And btw, about depth, how far is the vocals on B3 against 3S? Is it nicely placed or little/ too far away or like screaming infront of the face?

When you get a chance just run a comparison bet. 3S and AX3x.

TY.

I feel that the vocals on the B3 are nicely placed and they sound VERY natural.

I'll try to post some short impressions between the AX-35 and the VSD3S later today. You can also check out jokers excellent in depth review on the AX-35.

Thanks

I'm so lucky I don't have to choose. But the VSD3S is a better allrounder.

Yeah, but don't forget peter, you're crazy, YES I KNOW, lol  - the kc06's are fantastic!

Mind you, I haven't heard the ue600's or b3's, so what do I know :)

You're right waynes world the KC06's are fantastic. As a matter of fact Tenores, KC06, AX-35, B3, UE600 and the VSD3S are all fantastic budget IEM's that outperform most others in their price range and also some much more expensive ones. Most of them are very different sounding though and not all will be equaly loved by everybody. Some of them hit my sweetspot and some don't that's just me though and others can (will, should) feel otherwise.

I think that this is important to remember. I've got no problem with mochill loving them all since they're all great.

I want to change the scenario (because if you went to a deserted Island all alone, the last thing you might think is taking the audio equipment with you
cool.gif
).

If you're on a vacation or at home/office and If you have the chance to take only one iem for listening your preferred music (amp's are allowed), which one you might take?

(To be honest I am not asking the question for myself because I already read the Peter's excellent comparison)

LOL!

I'd bring the Havi B3Pro1, no doubt.

For my preferred music the B3's are my preferred choice. I think that the B3's are techically superior to the VSD3S due to their very natural and flat nature.

So if it wansn't clear from my comparison: I do find the B3's better for all  kind of music where I don't need that extra bass to enjoy it and that goes for a lot of what I listen to. For all other music the VSD3S are the best alternative I've come across so far.

Vsonic VSD3S vs ZA Tenores short short version:

Let me first say that I find the Tenores to be a great IEM . I guess one could say that they're a pretty straight upgrade from the Sony MH1C with much better controlled bass and the same extremely smooth over all presentation.

My main grip with the Tenores, compared to the VSD3S, are that they're a bit to thin sounding for my liking and I also find them to be to smoth (especially in the highs). The sound of the VSD3S are much fuller and it lso have a bit more bite in the treble making it more suitable for my liking. I actually can't think of one area were I think the Tenores perform better than the VSD3S. That's not saying that the Vsonics are better at everyting but they're better for my taste in the two things metonioned. Both sets offers very good separation and soundstage.

Please also note that I don't really like the Sony MH1C that much due to it's boomy bass and to smooth treble so users happy with the MH1C (and there's enough of them) should probably be very happy with the Tenores as well.

There also seem to be a fact that there's quiet some variations between different pair of Tenores, driver flex problems and more than one report of faulty units as well. This gives a feeling that QC is poor or even lacking and seem to make them quiet a gamble to purchase. That being said my pair works as intended so far.

Vsonic VSD3S vs Astrotec AX-35 short short version:
I find the AX-35 to have too recessed mids and boomy mid bass in it's stock configuration. I've modded my AX-35 by taping off all the vents, adding a 50 OHM resistor and using them with Sony hybrid tips. In this configurtion they're more balanced with the mid bass being tamed and pushing the mids a bit more forward.

I find the modded AX-35 to be really nice and enjoy them as much as the Tenores. They're way different though. Compared to the VSD3S the AX-35 still have a bit too recessed mids for my liking. I feel like they're a bit schizofrednig with some darkness in the lower mids combined with some brightness in the treble. The AX-35 is every way as full sounding as the VSD3S but the Vsonic has better extension in both ends and sounds much more airy as well.

Due to the slightly recessed mids on the AX-35 I always keep pushing up the volume on them wich aslo brings out more mid bass than I would have preferred. The VSD3S on the other hand sounds great even on low volume. Just like with the Tenores compared to the VSD3S i don't feel that the AX-35 performs better than the VSD3S in any area wile the Vsonics performs better in some. Both set offer very good soundstage and separation.

The build on the AX-35 are excellent and they should be able to survive for a long time.

Hope this helps

Again very nice comparisons. I agree very much with your impressions of the Ax35. I should have pretty much a good idea of how the vsd3s sounds and I think I'm going to like it. Can't wait
