Hey guys,

I'm thinking of getting the white S400s to compliment my S500.

Should I? Better highs and mids, but less bass? Better for jazz music?

Should I do it?

I have them and enjoy them a little more than the S500 with my preferred genres of music...acoustic, blues, rock, vintage. And the white color is more than worth the price of admission. Thinking of doing the Adidas blue pad and blue cable mod. :)

No one really responded last time I asked, so I'll try again.

How much does the sound change when using the WS55 pads? Does it open up the soundstage a bit? I've used HM5 pads in the past, but I really enjoy the bass without the HM5s on so I probably won't use them anymore.

Also, is there no place to buy them other than ebay? $35 is a hefty price for pads, and I could get a pair of s400s for cheaper haha.

It's been discussed already.

You can get them directly from AT service. It works out fairly cheap.

Yes they do make the sound signature more airy, bass is slightly reduced compared to stock pads but not as much as HD25 or SJ5 Pleathers.

I think the S500s have better highs and lows. All the S400s did for me is make me realize how much the S500s lack mids...

Do I have to email AT to buy them? I couldn't find the actual product on the website. Sorry for the trouble.

Thanks!

Looks like its finally possible on my 6.5G slim iPod Classic 120GB. Chuffed to bits!

Lets hope it improves sound quality, coz this model of iPod is reported to have the worst sound chip known to man.

Well, the official Rockbox builds have a 10 band fully parametric EQ....hopefully the builds available for that model do too.

Yeah should be, and hopefully it will sound better without EQ as well.

I'm on my way over to the dark-rockboxed side now! xD

EDIT: And done! :D
