It seems my DX50 skips the first like... half a second of my tracks. Anyone know how to fix that? Gapless is off... rly not sure what to do

Mine does the same thing, I'm on firmware 1.2.6.  I've just learned to deal with it until they come out with a fixed firmware with the sound of 1.2.6

well 1.2.6 is more of a crossfade thing going on... at least for me that was it. While 1.2.7 just skips a bit of the beginning...

Okay, time to change my loyalties...

My favorite firmware is 1.2.5 BUT it needs EQing. With no EQ, the vocals are horribly recessed, thin and drowned out. I go -6/-3/-2/0/0/0/0. Beautiful, detailed low end and sparkly clear vocals.

Tried 1.2.7 again, still sounds like mud. Not quite sure what to EQ to get it to tolerable levels.

wow! 'detailed low end' with -6,-3,-2???

With IEMs (w4r) Im 10,10,5,0.... (Even though Im an 'analog' guy so I hook my c5d with boost for better sound)

Yeah, I guess that describes it better...a short crossfade

I'm running Mad Dogs, which are generous on bass. The bass bleeds into the mids without turning it down via EQ, resulting in thin/super recessed mids. 1.2.5 is generous on bass to begin with, so reducing it on the EQ still leaves plenty of it. Like I said, I already gave up trying to properly EQ 1.2.7. If you like bass, give 1.2.5 a try.

again 1.2.6 is the weird crossfade thing...

i feel like the DX50 is trying to play my music as gapless when gapless is off and my music isnt meant to be played gapless

Anyone used a Sony micro sd? Still having problems with scans, and I can pick one up tomorrow. Thanks.

I'm using Sony microsd 64gb and it is working great with no issues :)

do you guys think that reading speed on the SDcard plays a factor? i bought a 64GB transcend sd card. eventhough i haven't received my dx50 yet.

It probably matters in the scanning for the files on the sd card, but after that I have my doubts that there are any other differences. The dx50 is already fast at media scanning unlike my dx100.

i wanted to wait for the dx90 which has a dual saber dac. is the dual saber really that much better?

I've got a PM with a question that might be useful to others.

dx50 + c5d + w4r... May i know what is the sound when these three unites?

How about the clarity and soundstage?

I love it but my main reason for adding it is the 'analog bass boost' as I don't like using software EQs.
In terms of power I don't need a lot.. I listen in very low volumes.

first of all Im not one of the guys in the forum (most of the people in the forum) that describe tiny changes with elaborate words and in reality they have no idea about sound, electronics or physics…. (most of us are gear sluts and you trick our brain to believe what is needed to spend a bit more!)

So.. disclamer: Im not an expert, I just have some minimal knowledge and of course I have the same brain as everyone here that is easily tricked to believe what is needed in order for me to spent money :) :)

soundstage might be a bit better, I assume this is because the signal is more clean too. There is a tiny tiny hiss in the HP out with IEMs so via the line out is way cleaner.
the other this is that by having the 'digital' volume to max (245..) you are not killing bits so the clarity will be mathematically better! you get the full detail of the digital file to an output without this tiny tiny hiss (noise level/floor) so even if my head (neural network) is tricked, I thinks it really better.

(as I said, 'analog bass boost' is probably the best addition! EQ theory tell as that EQ (that is not linear-EQ) introduces a lot of phasing issues and also is digital.. I don't like digital sound tools, don't ask me if I can really tell the difference… :p my brain tells me that)
