The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

Did some basic measurements as promised, and here are the results: headphone-out output impedance is 0.7ohm, line-out output impedance is 124ohm. Low gain headphone-out max voltage 1.079Vrms, mid gain 1.75Vrms, high gain 2.655Vrms . Line-out FR cure is flat. Headphone-out FR curve has some minor bass roll-off due to output capacitors. With a 47ohm dummy load, it is -0.75dB @ 20Hz with corner frequency @ 8Hz. Output capacitance is estimated to be around 400uF. Purely on RMAA result, LO looks cleaner than HO (which is expected of course), though both don't measured quite as good as X3, especially on IMD. Since they are still well below the 1% threshold, it doesn't seem to be of any major concern. Output power is quite good, comparable to most standalone portable amps.

Just want to add that the above measurement is done under v1.2.2. I redo the RMAA measurement under v1.2.5 and the result is pretty much identical.

No. More highs than 1.2.2 but less than 1.2.3b.
Bass: more defined than 1.2.2, there is no more "boom boom effect".

And a question: it seems there is a little fade-in at each start of a song, so very often you cannot hear the first sound of a song. It is boring, and it seems Ibasso don't work on this. Is there a trick to correct this?

Seriously I have never seen before dx50 a dap player that is not able to play the first sound of a song!

Have you turned on gapless option?

SQ impressions seems to be very different. The only way is to start with 1.2.2, listen few songs, then update DX50 to 1.2.3, listen same songs and jump up to 1.2.5, and then repeat it few times :p Unless, someone have two DX50s

I must wait few days to check it. I'm really curious about the SQ, I prefer 1.2.3 version.

Just updated to 1.2.5. I don't find much differences compared to 1.2.3beta, sound wise and behavior wise. Not a leap update compared to 1.2.2->1.2.3beta. I guess this is all good. After so many updates, this is the first time since a very early update that I did not have to go down to Recovery mode. I, again, left my microSD card in the reader and nothing happened to it, therefore folks it's safe to just leave it in there. I killed the scan before the factory reset, what's the point when you know it will have to be done again after the factory reset.

Enjoy my music as always.

I have to say the DX50 is truly a fun player to spend music time with.
