The Fiio X5 Thread

Thx1326: If you've got Fiio's firmware tools and a Windows computer, you can change the EQ names. You have to unpack the firmware, open up the EQ .cfg file, change the names, save the file, and repack and reflash the firmware.

I forgot the exact name and location of the EQ .cfg file right now, but I did post about this either in this thread or in the X5 FW Mod thread.

If I can do it, you can too

Is there any place to see actual screen shots of the modded software packs before actually installing them?

And... is there a way to just change the names of the EQ's.  Would like to change the "Rock", "Classical", "Jazz" to something like "Sennheiser", "AKG", "Car", etc to reflect the enviroment it is being used in.

Any help?

Thanks in advance!

The links in the first post have a link to the direct download and the post which the theme was introduced. If you go to the post most custom theme creators upload pics of their work. Or you can browse the gallery on the right hand side of the page if using a desktop browser.

After the FW is unpacked navigate to the 'str' folder and open the eq.ini file. You can change the descriptions used for the equalizer, but don't change the text in the <>, only change the text outside of the <>.

For example it may say "< classical > Classical < classical >"...... Only change the text I show here in bold.

Well the X5 Classic delivery fell through. Already paid for it so waiting on a refund now. Anyone have suggestions on whether I should look for another X5 Classic or go for the X5ii?
I've read so many reviews my head is spinning.
Thanks

Hi guys,

Tried doing a search but couldn't find anything.

Does anybody know whether or not the X5 supports 2 x 256Gb Micro SD cards for a total of 512Gb.

I know it supports 2 x 128Gb cards for a total of 256Gb, but couldn't find any information confirming support for 512Gb.

There are no 256 Gb micro SDs out at the moment - so nobody really knows.  There should be no reason why it wouldn't be supported though.  I think a couple of people have used 256 Gb full SD cards with appropriate extender/adaptor.

Thanks for the reply. I guess the 256gb cards floating around are all fakes. If the normal SD cards with adaptors work the Micro SD's should work once they are released.

200gb msd cards work fine (183.3gb per card of useable space)

You will run into a problem with the built in 27 song limit.
(Unless they are Country & Western songs then it's a 6 song limit)

Or longer Progressive Rock songs which are longer and have a limit of four. But no problem because still room for all four sides of Dark Side Of The Moon and Tubular Bells. This is brilliant, my old CD walkman only played one album :)
