Not even close ; )

I have to agree that 2.14 was the first seismic shift from DAP to HiFi  for the X3 and I was knocked out when I first tried it. I went on to 3.0 which sounded a big step down then on to 3.0 exfat and 3.2 which were returned to the 2.14 theme.

I'm perfectly happy with 3.21 as I find the sound quality very high and some issues in 3.0 and 3.2 mainly resume mode have been fixed but can understand your preference for 2.14 as it does sound great.

I've just found out that FW 3.0EX sounds as good as 2.14b (same detail/fidelity) with more bass. This is heaven!

  Hi
Have you reset the unit? Use a pin to reset the unit , the reset button is beside your headphone jack.

Was going to mention that myself. Once had mine freeze before I started charging (I thought the battery went dead) and I couldn't get it to turn on till I reset it.

Installed firmware 3.0EX - does sound nice. However - when I powered my player back on once, it started playing some RANDOM song right in the middle of the song! Nowhere near where I was before.....

Cant wait for 3.21 NON-beta to come out - if gapless worked, I would be a happy dude.

LordX;

At some level all firmware for this unit is "beta".  Some of the beta releases were far more stable than the official releases.  In my opinion, the current beta release is the most stable release so far.

There are no known reports of anybody blowing up their units by changing firmware revisions yet.

Maybe you can be the first to blow one up.  Hope you are still under warranty.

It's about time for another official version that fixes all known issues of the previous versions and adds a nice parametric EQ.

+1

if the implementation of a decent software parametric or normal EQ is easy on X3 ( talking to fiio guys here ) ...
My suggest is : not to make it with a graphic figure ... like a 5 bands arranged by each other ( the traditional form of eq ) ... but if that would help in minimizing the X3's resources consumption : processor , ram .... make it with numbers only like :
Band 1 to 5 : each band >> Frequency :
                                    >> Gain :
                                    >>Q value :

or with THE NORMAL EQ : just mention the (fixed) frequency :
                                                          and gain >>
