Interesting project. WM8740 is a good DAC if implementation is on a high level. Fingers crossed for a good, bug free firmware and fast, useful , easy menu. If X3 will beat Clip+ sonically, it can justify the double price difference between them. Heard somewhere about 100-150$ price target for X3. And battery life definetely should be more than 12-15h (~20h would be nice).

Battery life is getting so ridiculous these days, except for the Walkman (Z and F series) which are considered one of the best in playing red-book as in  price/sq wise.
The min, should be 20 hours....almost all the Super daps in the market do not exceed 8 hour bench, knowing that the X3 will not be a super dap.....but we should wait and see...Good luck Fiio.

And please Fiio.....please...take your time to implement a good software/player for your player...we do not need another buggy player in the market.

After owning a 150$ Teclast T51 dual-wolfson monster, can't see any reason spending over 200$ for a WM8740 based DAP, even considering High-Ress...

If Iriver puts a price over 300$, I can't see any reason craving for that product. Let's be patient and wait good news from Fiio instead.

Actually, this is the FiiO thread. My intention wasn't derailment, it was to show my continued interest in the FiiO X3. I've never been disappointed by a FiiO product, I've sampled a few iriver's in the past and had been. They were too buggy,...

Now, how about we get back on topic, eh??? FiiO X3!!!

Yep, so far I'm on day 4 and as of today I've only lost one of 4 power bars. My stuff is all lossless by the way.

Also if you use the auto shutdown feature it will greatly extend the battery life. I've gone an entire month without charging it before :).

It is a real pity that a well regarded es9023 DAC chip doesn't appear in portable players like X3. It is a good sounding compact design with integrated I/V stage and jitter immune input. Also es9023  sells for only 1.68$ in large batch!

I have an original idea.Let's all buy a ES9023 DAC chip and send them to Fiio and ask them to put it on X3.

+1 on that.

With a high quality digital volume control and a good headphone amp would be a killer setup.
