The discovery thread!

I think my Aful Explorer just shipped, which I'm very excited about!

Also, it sounds like I'll get the opportunity to try the Celest Wyvern Abyss? Has anyone had a chance to try this or the previous version at a show or anything? Gorgeous shell as usual from Celest, and I'm guessing it'll be priced at <50$ with that single DD? I could be wrong.

I think it's important for us to remember that some members receive email notifications of new posts -- and having to repeatedly check back here every few minutes after yet another email can get tiring over time.
Getting email notifications and even just website notifications can be annoying with popular threads.

Instead of subscribing to threads like this one, I just create a web browser favorite/bookmark with "/unread" at the end of the URL. Every time I click the Discovery bookmark, it'll bring me to the oldest 'unread' post.

Btw, I hope sharing this doesn't skew head-fi metrics for thread subscriptions lol.

any info on the battery life? i read the website but might have missed it
Haven't read any about it yet, I'll do some research about it later today and maybe ordering.
I was about to say I have heard good things about the ifi GO pod but it’s like 400 bucks lol nvm!
They are good, and sound good. Was also more comfortable than what I would expect.
Just that price is a little on the high side, had it on loan for a weekend.

Easier to justify a purchase with the Moondrop being cheaper than ifi, if quality is alright 🤔

No coincidence Apple's vanguard designs stopped when chief designer Jony Ive left the company in 2019. He was the leading design influence of the iMac, iPod, iPhone, iPod, MacBook and iOS.

Just a minor player in the company ... :)

The current CEO places no value on design. He put an operations manager in charge of Apple’s design efforts and hired the guy who invented the E-Trade baby to put in charge of Apple’s ad campaigns. Design has been completely devalued at Apple and the result is these lifeless, featureless and boring designs. Minimalist design doesn’t have to be lifeless, featureless and boring but that is what you’ll get when you alienate world class designers.

That direct comparison to Aria2 and Harman2019 tough
I ordered it for the sheets and giggles for my son. High res version. I imagine it'll be a piercing affair, but with discount, it was $10.00. I spend less every day for coffee for my wife and I, and he runs through wired like water.

Carat.jpg

Looking for a single-DD? I just reviewed the $66 JIALAI Carats and it's scary how competent budget DDs are these days. You're invited to read my full review here.
Reminds me of my Moondrop KXXS and Kanas Pro, minus that abysmal gold nozzle.

Oh yeah, was only gonna use silver. Thanks!
You just made me think of something, and I'll report back if it makes a difference? Hmm...

I know EXACTLY who you're talking about 🤣

I don't post here often enough to have noticed it myself before, but yeah, I can see it now.

To his defense, he replies to so many messages that even by integrating quoting in his modus operandi, he would probably end up taking a page anyway, so there is that… 🤣

Anyway, I appreciate him for contributing considerably to the ‘liveliness’ of this thread! Give him some more time so that he will ‘catch up’ with your previous message, so that he can take it into consideration (because I don’t think he saw it yet).

My BQEYZ Cloud review is up and let say the sound experience is very different from Simgot EA1000 which use passive radiator driver for the bass and lower mids part where Cloud its for upper mid and treble.

Cloud is smoother a notch more neutral and less treble centric, less bassy even if EA1K is no basshead...

Its less colored sounding than the WInd, we can say bright neutral with just so slightly mid bass boost, but well made cause for once kick drum sound round and punchy.

Full review here (including comparisons to Moondrop Kato and Simgot EA1K)

https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/bqeyz-cloud.27191/reviews#review-33987
Pros:
-bright neutral yet musical
-monitor like imaging
-quality bass (round punchy mid bass, well layered bass line presence)
-rich, texture and realist timbre
-clear forwards mids
-beautiful female vocal: fowards yet non shouty or harsh
-fast and controlled attack
-very refined treble (crisp and clean and snappy)
-versatile for anything but basshead music
-classical and acoustic instruments maestro
-speedy weight piano
-beautiful and energetic female vocal
-the passive driver is truly a game changer here
-good cable
-good sound value
Cons:
-slight sub bass roll off
-closed up soundstage
-not the most lively macro dynamic
-while clean as a whole, their not a lot of limpid silence around instruments
-just slight bit of warmth between kick (mid bass) and mids transition
-construction and design is rather uninspired and 2 pin connectors feel cheap
