Perhaps, just keep in mind Sony use less power hungry components than the T51 so they can preserve battery life and keep their DAP's thin and good-looking, which is more important to their consumers than 20% better sound quality.

If you're lusting for even better sound than the T51, you can always open it up and exchange the TDA1308 chip for something else..... there's a forum that discusses that somewhere, I can't recall right now.

I'm not saying the Sony will sound worse than the T51, it might sound better! I'm just keeping the battery life and form factor in mind (something Hifiman doesn't care about for example, the HM-601 doesn't even fit in my pocket, I hate using it outside, lol).

How do you find the sound quality of the hifiman? Since I always go out with a bag, portability isnt that much of a problem for me, but I still like something smaller lol.

I told you where to get the clip+/clip zip online for the cheapest price possible and you said you'll wait until you go to Hong Kong? Lol.

Somehow I don't think telling you where to buy the UE700 is going to help.

If you want to hunt deals, then you can simply follow this thread http://www.head-fi.org/t/518656/the-iem-portable-headphones-deal-alerts-thread-no-affiliate-links-permitted/

If you want a cheap amplifier, these seem to be amongst the most popular http://www.electric-avenues.com/amplifiers.html, http://www.jdslabs.com/products.php?page=cmoy

If you want to buy things in person, then you can go to a Sonystyle store, or this one www.addictedtoaudio.com.au

Sonystyle? not really a sony person Lol kinda getting bored of boomy bass and it may be a bit hard to get to that addicted to audio place since i live about 1000 kms away.............with no local hifi store :frowning2: i wish there was a hifi store near me

You're not too far from the truth =p

I like Sony's way of "adding rocks" to the picture, to describe what is happening to the "freq".

Yes I was going to listen to user wilzc's UM1, but he advised me I wasn't missing anything. I spent a while hunting down the PL50 in singapore after reading a good review, and it sounded very dull, I gave it away.

In my opinion, if you want to spend under $100, you shouldn't be considering balanced armatures, at all, because the dynamic drivers sound 5 times better in that category.

If you want to experience balanced armature, try to find a second hand UE700, q-Jays, or ER-4, and we'll see what the Sony XBA-1 is like soon, from what I've read they coated the inside of the housing with liquid crystal polymer or something.

Let me repeat, for under $90 I consider JVC FXC51, and Jays A-Jays Two the best I've heard, IEM's like Dunu Ares and PL50 don't come anywhere close.

For those that prefer earphones, I think the Blox seems to have potential, it should sound a lot better than the Apple earbuds anyway.
