The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

Now I'm really torn between the 650 and the 700.  While I technically could get both at this point to compare, that's a LOT of cash outlay and I won't be able to get away with it.  What types of genre or listening preferences would someone need to appreciate the HD700 over the HD650?
I think a tube amp would be a easy fix for treble and also hd700 is easy to drive compare to hd 650 and hd800. So hd700 is gonna be awesome i believe.

PLUS IF IT IS WORSE THAN HD650, IS SENN STUPID TO PRICE IT HIGHER THAN 650?

Well there's a reason the price on the HD700 has been steadily dropping this year and it has even appeared on the site that shall not be named.

Getting nasty over another person's listening preferences is so passé. FYI, a lot of people dislike the way the HD700 sounds (including me), and you know what? That's fine.

I believe you have some kind of point here. Still, for $350 you could probably do worse. Let's enjoy some deals now.

for me HD 700 = Electronic (no question), Jazz, Modern rock
HD 650= Classic Rock, Female Vocals, Classical

(my opinion only)

This makes me think the 700 would be more up may alley.  The only thing is if the treble is really hot, some of the Djent stuff I listen to can be really harsh (Animals As Leaders, Corelia, Novalo, etc).

Oh man, my wife will kill me....

Agreed. :)

Oh, and for those of you who are worried about the treble spike, they do EQ rather well, and if you don't mind using a little to step down the 6-7kHz range by 3-4dB, you can get rid of it altogether, making these pretty damned neutral (and well worth $350).

I tried them briefly at a local store here and first thing I noticed was how it hugged your head and felt so plush and comfortable. The sound was excellent, of course, but did not listen to it for long.
Unfortunately, not. I just placed it. :) I guess if the price ever goes down again (below $350) in the next 30 days, they will adjust it.

Received the HD650s today (burning in at the moment). Was able to call Adorama this morning and have them adjust the $350 price to Amazon's $315. Pretty happy camper! :)

Alright, I hate you guys.  I now have a $340 (after tax) HD650 and a $325 HD700 incoming.  I suppose I'm going to have to post some kind of thorough comparison review before passing the savings on to someone else (for at least one of these).  You guys are the worst.  >.<

Only $310 short of an HD800??? :)

Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind!  But no, I don't plan on keeping this fleet of headphones.  In a week I'm going to have:  Q701, HE-4, HD650, HD700 (plus my work headphones which are not going anywhere!).  At least two of those will be going on the classifieds or returned.

I wonder how the HD700 sounds for gaming...
