It's a matter of preference, nothing more. I personally prefer the W3000 over the TH900.

Agreed.  The mids presentation and voicing of the W3000ANV is more suitable to me than the TH900.  I just bought it a week ago (the TH900) just to put it through the paces against the W3000ANV, and I'm pretty sure the TH900 is not going to stay much longer.

Same here, I'm a midrange guy. IMO TH900 has too much bass in relation to the rest of the spectrum.

I actually prefer female vocals with W5000 over W3000anv! They sound much sweeter on the W5000

Each headphone has its own strengths and weaknesses. If those strengths align with your preference while the weaknesses do not get in the way, then you have found -your- headphone.

There is no universal clear winner between the W3000ANV, HD800 and TH900. You gotta pick the one that suits you.

X2, that's what it really comes down to. I found the th-900 to be more of an upgrade over the d7k than I thought they would be. But I still prefer the w3000 over all. They both have their strenghts and weaknesses. But I found the th-900 weaknesses to more glaring than those of the w3000. I also prefer the sonic presentation of the w3000 as well. But neither really outclasses the other, it mostly a preference thing.

Well I guess we hear differently..my W3000anv have not been used for more than a month..with the HD800 and the TH900 on the house they are collecting dust.

Interesting. I have the same trio and the TH900 is sad & lonely.

Agreed.  People who universally say one headphone is the best needs to stipulate that it's the best for their own personal preferences.  Everyone is different.

I know this might be a bit of a stretch (and maybe even forbidden? Sorry if it is!), but I currently have a W3000ANV on loan and I'm completely in love with it. I'm looking for one, particularly in a trade (+ cash) for my HP2s, if anyone's interested!
