At $2.5k retail... its expensive for a DAP. At least there is the 901 out there for people with a lower budget that can compete with the 240!

As much as I love 901's sound, I must admit everything else on 901 (may be except durability) is rock bottom compared to the better DAPs.

I had not have a chance to listen critically or extensively to either ak100/120 II and they might be a good compromise on price/looks/feature/sound. Another alternative is calyx M if you are into full body type of sound (too thick for me), and personally I still think dx90 is the best bargin/compromise for a DAP for most except the craziest headfi audiophiles.

Just wondering now, if I should just get the Hugo cos any DAP with the Hugo sounds tons better..

There is nothing in the same class as the ak240. I was asked what I heard in DAP and the dx 50 is budget and I reviewed it on audio360.org I had the hm901 and the Filo here for la lsiten. The 120 also and the AK240 is best I have heard full review coming in Positive Feedback. There is nothing else on the market priced the same or in the same class as the AK240. While expensive it does things most other DAP cannot do. The Hugo and AK240 is sick and a better DAC in the Hugo. I should been clearer in my post. The Hugo  and AK240 is what is on all day oin my house. it is insanely good. I did not review the Hugo with the AK240 but I do have a Hugo review coming in audio360.org with Kevin Venables. The Hugo is one of the very best DAC's I have heard.

I use cover.Jpg and folder. Jpg. Both seem to work.

i got my unit today but could not get my cover.jpg cover art to show up on the player. Are you sure that you didn't also include the cover in the file metadata/tags aswell?
 
I tried with regular jpg 400x400 px.

Got it working. The trick was to shut down the ak240 and restart it after the cover art has been loaded onto it.
After the restart all cover art shows up.

This is what I do :

-cover art for my dsd downloads will show automatically.
- most of my flacs are ripped from my DVD-Audio and Blu-ray Audio, I don't think the image is embedded in metadata.
-The jpgs I used are just of random size downloaded from Google search. About 95% of the cover art shows, a few won't no matter what I do.

both cover.jpg and folder.jpg do work. I have only tested with 400x400 jpg files, and thoose do all work. I didnt want to go to big in order to minimize load time to display the image for the player when i switch albums.

This color is so much better then the stock color.
