I got another chance to listen to some of the most famous headphones namely TH600 and T1 yesterday, paired with Beyer A20 amp which is said to be great match with T1. They're impressive but I'll be keeping my HP100 for a long long time...

It's hard to argue with the value of the HP100 right? I loaned mine to my Dad and now he likes them so much I need to get some more for myself. I love the TH600, but is it more than 4 times better? I'll let you decide... but the answer is no! :p

To be quite honest I don't like how vocal (especially female) sounded on those two headphones, everything else, from soundstage to extension, is better (T1 in treble extension, TH600 in the amazing midbass detail). But yeah, I don't think it's worth 4 times more.

after a while you'll change your mind lol

I got my K550 in and well sorry guys, they sound amazing! And my w1000x which costs about 2x as much sounds only like 10% better xD, but those tiny little big of extra details are worth it.

I know I will, just not with T1 or TH600, I'm not ready to give up the glorious mid and clarity yet (or invest thousands of dollars for dac and amp to make those two sounds the way I like).

Oh and HP100 really depend on your dac and amp, especially amp. Just got Aune T1 and the sub bass pretty much disappear compared to my old ss amp.

pff you don't need a thousand dollar dac, I've had PLENTY of ppl tell me an oDac sounds as good as most of those, now a thousand amp yes you might want one of those <3

Still $160 for a k550 is a good deal for me, plus it's a little smaller than the Sound Magic it seems. Non the less I do want to hear the Sound Magic

The K550 aren't that big are they :O [although I own the w1000x and Beyer Dt 990 all of which are rather BIG full size cans... so I guess I've yet to own anything small xD]

Aren't K550 a deal bit bigger than both though? At least the cup size must be. HP100 is about the same size as the beyer.

Actually yea I guess ur right, they are about as wide as the w1000x, and wider than the Beyers. but they are not NEARLY as tall in the Cups as either one. + the fact that they fold makes them really use to store and carry around

How the heck can you make circle wider than the other but still being smaller?

The space that occupy the pad make up the most of K550 bulk but if you mean the tiny outer cup where the hinge meet I guess it is smaller...

HP100 also fold by the way

Ditch the portable and you could get Aune T1, with lowest gain it sound good, warm and very non fatiguing with HP100. Now I understand why bigsby rave HP100 so much with his WA7, it should sound sublime, maybe I should head to the particular audio shop which has WA7 to try it...

Edit: I do lose some of those addicting sub bass impact though, too bad, I thought the SS headamp section of aune could help.

I just ditched my desktop amplifier so I could have a portable. I don't like having to sit in one spot to listen to my music, I would like to be able to walk around the house with them on.

Hmm then maybe Fiio X3? The warm signature and the powerful amp for a portable should be a good match with HP100. Haven't personally heard it though.

They're currently $160 on a certain mass buying price dropping site that could not be named here. The deal won't be forever, now's your chance.
