Hi,
sony does not deal with selling parts.
Are you saying a set of the stock pads is $400?

left pad: 65$ https://sony.encompass.com/item/11013837/Sony/A-2166-862-A/
right pad: 155& https://sony.encompass.com/item/11013838/Sony/A-2166-863-A/
Its currently more 220 for both from the sony parts seller. But 400$ for both seems possible.

Dekoni Elite Velour (pair - left & right) 59$
https://dekoniaudio.com/product/dek...ar-pads-for-sony-z1r-headphones-elite-velour/

Dekoni Elite Hybrid(pair - left & right) 99$
https://dekoniaudio.com/product/dek...ar-pads-for-sony-z1r-headphones-elite-hybrid/

Dekoni Elite Fenestraded Sheepskin (pair - left & right) 79$
https://dekoniaudio.com/product/dek...y-z1r-headphones-elite-fenestrated-sheepskin/

Dekoni Elite Sheepskin (pair - left & right) 109$

I would definitely test the Velour and Hybrid set, but its not being stocked by addictedtoaudio in Oztralia currently.

have anyone else had this issue were a powder/residue is coming out the headphone arm were it meets the ear cup section like in my picture? the more the ear cups swivel the more the powder comes out

is this normal? i just got them a little over a week ago and they have been doing that since i got them

if its not normal, do you think it will eventaully stop happening? or should i return them?
Maybe happens because they are like the japanese walls -shoji-, I think made with some material like paper, and the dust you are seeing is paper detritus, but I think is not normal and you have to contact with your retailer... Is that or @bouscadie is on reason... and you have a problem... or maybe not...

I recently ordered a Sony replacement pair from encompass.com in the US just to have for the future and they were $ 220 USD for the pair. Strngely enough it was 155 for the Right and 65 for the Left.

The stock pads can still be bought in Australia for $99 AUD each, however they do not ship overseas. Might be worth getting them from here and use a mail forwarder.

WOW 800 £ four a pair of EarPads. That's hard to swallow with the retail price of 2000£ for a complete MDR-Z1R.

In Europe from the official Sony service partner they sell for about £120/€100 per side, left and right same price

Hey all,

I am considering these as my "endgame." I own the MDR-Z7 and the Sony WM1A. I also have the MUC-B20SB1 balanced Kimber cable. I am a fan of the Sony sound.

My question is this: can these be driven sufficiently with the balanced output of the WM1A? I can probably gain WAF for the headphones alone, but headphones plus amp would be a different ballgame.

There is no such thing as an end game in this pursuit.

After 2 weeks away from my Z1R, I just got the opportunity to enjoy them and I would say this loud and clear: I'm made for these gems.

My first impressions were a few weeks back:

https://www.head-fi.org/threads/the...ead-plus-reviews.939901/page-54#post-15962098

The one thing I'm still battling through is comfort, specially on the headband. If it weren't for this, I would probably declare these HPs as "endgame" (even though some would say there's no such thing).

Still waiting for the Kimber/Sony cable, so @Redcarmoose what could possibly go wrong? Nothing at all I think, wcs I keep the stock cable.

While writing this, I just completed one hour enjoying an 11k flac playlist on shuffle mode (loaded with Contemporary Jazz, R&B, Rock and more) with a Hiby R6 Pro, going balanced, and unfortunately, there's a hot spot on top of my head, more or less tolerable but hoping and crossing my fingers it would disappear with time. Interesting this didn't happen with the Z7m2.

For those who think they are really comfortable, I envy each one of you. :)

No more adjustment? Just one point more?

Sorry to hear there are fit issues. Oh...well. Seems like something could be done? What about putting a headband cover, like something made of fur or knitted?

Good luck. Also I do want to mention another member started wearing his a long time and seemed to get used to em after time?

Yes, I'm considering a headband cover if in a couple of weeks the hot spot persists.

Thanks.!
