double helix left fusion 8 braid versus alo sxc8 right.  sonically superior and soft and pliable dhc, expensive and long wait times (under statement) as a trade off.

Thanks for all the suggestions; just ordered a SE846 and need to get a cable quickly because I really don't even want to use the stock cable once.
The DHC looks nice but it is a bit too thick - looking for something thinner like the Westone cables. I read some reviews on the SE846 + Linum cables and it seems it is not a great pairing. Will it be worse than the stock cable? As long as it isn't too bad I am satisfied.

I personally think the Linum cable chokes the overall sound compared to the stock cable (my review of it is in my profile). Your specific mileage may vary. Overall, Ted's Silver Litz cables are great and are sonically a step up compared to the nickel plated copper stock cable in my opinion.

As for those who don't like the memory wire, just cut it off. The directions are in my SCS review in my profile if you are interested.

8 Wire is sexy as all heck, and once you have it you don't have to think, "I wonder if it sounds better than......" Wazzup was as bad an influance on me as you were...lol. But I've got a great rig now.

Which ever cable you get, do check if the Mmcx is compatible with the 846. Normally one with the little washer will do.

Mine is Norne Audio's Therium 8 Wire. Below is Therium 8 Wire on left, HL Reference Silver Litz on the right. It's difficult to understand the major difference is cable quality without seeing one next to another. I'm copy pasting this next text that I posted in another thread...

"I'm withholding any comparrisons with the stock and my Ref Silver Litz until I've been able to log some additional hours on the Therium. My intent is to become absolutely accostomed to the SQ using the Therium, and then swap to the other cables to see if I notice any losses. It should be easier to pick out what I'm not hearing, than trying to explain differences in stepping up the ladder. So far I can't find a single thing about the Therium that I'm not absolutely in love with. Trevor does outstanding work!"

Wow.

Is there anybody who is using 846 with the stock cable? :)

Are differences only ergonomic or sq also?
What kind of source would one need for the cable to become weak link?
If i am planing to buy fiio dac/amp for now, would i be able to hear difference?
