One man's point of view.
Nice! K340 are capable of such awesome sound - a real hidden gem if you get one that sounds "right" stock, or if you can mod / fix it to get there. I have 2 - one sounds neutral-ish (just slightly bass heavy) and just gorgeous; the other has a badly congested midrange. Both gray drives, which surprised me. Haven't got around to figuring out what's up with that pair.

Thanks, They are by far my favorite headphone.
Yet they're 43 years old. 🤔 I wouldn't dare get rid of them.

That pair is in gorgeous condition!! Definitely a keeper.
Thanks. I just picked up some Vintage RS-1 buttons to add to my station.

Very nice! I had a set like that maybe 15 years ago? It was definitely smoother & better sounding than the current RS-1 production of that time. I really like your vintage headphone collection :)

Have you had a chance to listen to some of the more recent Grados, something like the GS3000x? If you have, how does the RS-1 compared to something more recent?

The only other Grado I've owned is the sr325x and they IMO didn't even come close in SQ to the RS-1. The Grado fanclub thread would be where to ask.

GS3000e were one of my least favorite Grados, very bright :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
The cocobolo was beautiful but seemed like a very bad choice acoustically, here. Any variant RS-1 is better than that. Vintage RS-1 even more so. I did like the PS series - PS500e, PS1000, PS2000e. Still nothing that approaches what HP1000 did.
