I'm going to Taipei this weekend, and while there I want to listen to some cans. Anybody know some good stores?

BTW I can speak and read a little mandarin (enough to get me by in my daily existence) so take that into consideration if it matters.

Thanks
Boytbpc

P.S. Anybody in the area with used gear for sale would take precedence.

Hi boytbpc, where are you from? Here's the most famous headphone store in Taipei that sells Alessandro, Stax, Sennheiser, AKG, and etc.: http://www.hifi.com.tw They are known for "just-like-home" listening environment and you can sit there audition for whole afternoon without feeling pressured or like having to buy something afterwards at all. Really good.

For Grado, you may have to go to this store: http://www.pincha.com.tw or this one: http://www.acdc.com.tw Grado's are of the lowest prices in the world in Taiwan!

"Grado's are of the lowest prices in the world in Taiwan!"

Are you thinking what I'm thinking fellow PS-1 lusters? Shang-Ti Chen, do you know of any stores that sell the new Grado PS-1 headphones? As far as I know, they are only available in certain parts of Europe, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

No I don't know... I'm wondering how PS-1 sound too and if it really lives up to the hype. But since Grado in U.S. doesn't sell it I think the Taiwan dealers won't have them...

Thanks for the help. Do you know of any especially good headphone or headphone amp deals in Taipei?

BTW, using altavista's babel fish resulted in an understandable english version of those sites.

Not sure about Pincha but both acdc.com.tw and hifi.com.tw sell headphone amps., especially hifi.com.tw. It has Sugden Headmaster, RA-1, Audio Technica's amps. and etc.

Have any of you seen any prices that are amazingly low in Taipei compared to other places you've been, i.e. is there a local favorite that sells cheaper in Taiwan than other places?

Thanks again.

Not really... the three stores I mentioned are actually the stores of the lowest prices. Even if you find it lower somewhere else... the difference should not be big...
