  and 2 more questions :)
1) how many "steps" has the volume + what could be the usual volume level for sensitive IEMs
2) with how many steps is it possible to adjust the EQ? from the pics it looks like it offers only 3-4 steps (up/down) for each band
thanks

Volume has 120 steps, but you can put  max volume level (40, 60, 80, 100 and 120)
EQ has 60 steps, 30 up, 30 down on each "line"
I'm using M5 with IE800, and my usual volume level is 70(average) - 100 (on the go and with some DSD files)

Hi all,

First of all, sorry for my awfull english but unfortunatly here in France we don't learned well foreign language ...

I checked on line and the M5 is available and in stock at the French supplier.

Before ordering I've 1 question.

Does the M5 can read DSD files such as DSD64, DSD128 et DSD256 ?

In advance Thanks.

Each EQ "step" has unmarked subdivisions, so you have to click 3-4 times to get through each band. You can really fine tune each band. Basically the same as Cayin & FiiO EQ if you've used those.

Thankfully the Shanling M5 has EQ. I was originally going to get the L5Pro but it's got no custom EQ and so it drops off my list.

@Shanling: Would you be receptive to a list of FW requests?

Replaygain and accelerated scrolling would be on my list. What would others like to see?

Accelerated scrolling is in our development plan. Replay gain function is more complex, we will study on its possibility-of course it is a very good function and provides more professional experience. Thanks.

We are in touch of some candidates and hope it will settle down soon. Thanks.

@Shanling

Hi,

Is the M5 charging while using USB DAC? (I had the H3 and it did not).

Is there any measurement about stereo crosstalk and dynamic range?

Thanks.

M5 would charge during USB DAC usage.

What are the specs you need? The second one is dynamic range and it is 110dB. What is the first one?

Hi guys!
A question to owners of M5 did you have any issues playing SACD ISO file and have you had problems with media library update?
There seems to be 2 issues with my player:
1 It couldn't handle SACD ISO files properly - on playback there are 2-3 second hiccups every 25-26 seconds of playback on every ISO file I tried, all of these files play nicely on foobar2000.
I tried different files using different microSD cards until (after swapping 3 or 4 cards) player stopped recognizing media files - and this is problem No 2 and the major one now.
2 It doesn't matter which kind of files I throw  (mp3, flac, waw dsd, iso etc.) player doesn't see them and updating media library finishes with 0 files found every time now. I tried FAT 32 (as recommended) with capacities from 16GB to 128GB from Samsung, Sandisk, Lexar, PNY none of them work, tried to use exFat as well, and that did not help either.
Surprisingly, inserted card is visible when player is connected via USB (in USB storage mode), and I can access it with no problem at all, so the problem here is not hardware related - pure software. I tried to update firmware to 1.10 - updated smoothly, no issues during update (so it can see cards content, as it reads new firmware file), but newer version coudn't fix library update issue.
It looks to me as if their filtering function is screwed up, as it can see cards file system, and when it tries to update it's library it takes longer to process higher capacity cards with larger number of files on them (with the same result though)
I tried to use it as USB DAC as well, and drivers couldn't install properly and the player itself was not visible as connected audio device, so no luck here as well.
I then was swapping versions 1.0 and 1.10 back and forth, nothing can force it to see music files.
As of now I seem to have $500 USB 2.0 microSD card reader, which is sad, as I had high hopes about it.
While it played files initially - it was really nice sound-wise (apart from hiccups issue)

If anyone had that issue and was able to fix, please share, as I'm out of ideas now except sending it back.
