Just got my cable for IE80. Literally haven't listened to IE80 for good 3 months. Very refreshing IEM.

What kind of cable and where did you buy it from?

lol funny how when I sell mine you go back to it ;P. Well the 1Plus2 will most likely get you putting them all away lmao .

Finally gave up after struggling for so long with the silver cable and the tape mod. LOL. Lee you should try the EX1000 again and be patient. After 500 hrs of burn-ins, the EX1000 sounds perfect!

lol the EX1000 will always have treble spikes. It will never work for me. The MDR-7550 is better IMO & even more neutral :).

LOL Never say never and I never expected you would part with the beloved IE80.

Not sure, my cable's been broken for awhile now. But I can tell you that it is aesthetically pleasing.

That's all is needed to make you feel it sounds better.

Not sure if it's due to dynamic drivers moving, but getting headache.

Edit: Gonna start tip rolling.

Sounds bit too bright. I don't think dynamics are my brain mix together well. I honestly don't remember having this problem when I got IE80.

Not sure. I don't have any problems with my EX1000. IE80 seems more in yo face. Could be just me, haven't listened to it about 3 months. I think the bass extension is causing this.

Never noticed how easy it is to drive IE80. Will play this on very low volume.

so soundstage on ex1000 is wider than ie80 ?? personally for me it's hard to imagine SS wider than ie80 .. btw I'm in love with them :Dtravis barker on percussion sounds amazing on these.

Yep the EX1000 are a little wider but also thin sounding in comparison. Not as much depth to the sound Most focus is on width thus my comments regarding it sounding thin. While the IE80 and MDR-7550 have both good width and depth (more 3D).

I have owned the IE80 for 2 months now with ~50 hours of burn in, but I'm still wondering what additions I can add to the stock IE80 to improve its sound quality (cable, tips, source, amp, eq?). I am thinking of getting a Toxic Poison Cable, TX500 foam tips, and I'm thinking of using a Clip+ unamped, is there anything else I would need to consider?

1000 hours of burn in using diamond plated cables, using no less than flac at interval of 7.323 hours. Must use pure electricity as well.
