eheh this is how I bought mine. I lived with someone who had a pair years ago and had nice memories of it even if I really didn't think headphones were for home usage at the time. then one day I was talking on IRC saying I wouldn't mind having one, but it was too expensive. the guy showed me a link for a little above 350$ and I grabbed one instantly. then I calmed down a little and realized I didn't have an amp for a fullsize headphone
ooops.
at the time I think I had a pico slim for my IEMs, not exactly the powerhouse. ^_^
I got my HD650s for $410, which was an absolute steal at the time.
Seeing them at these prices makes me think about getting a backup pair, maybe even to keep my amaranth wood cups for one and have the other as a stock open can...
I did the same thing when Amazon had them for $290 back in January. Now I have two pair that are broken in, will be handy should I drink too much and grow a second head.
My first pair came in the silver box and had the newdrivers. The one I got in Jan. was in the black box. Amazon obviously moves more stock than the smaller outlets so I would not be too concerned. Buy em, check to make sure they have the correct drivers, and if by any chance they are the old drivers, send them back. There was no difference between the two pair that I could descern still one of the best heapjhones out there. Might pick up the hd800's after Christmas, so will probably sell off the older pair, but have no plans to get rid of all 650's. to enjoyable
