Well the Clear certainly wins in bass and dynamics. They are my favourite headphone.
But I do like variety and keep several sets around.
The S2's do have a little bit of bass and a really smooth overall sound. For fun, I even put them on my my iFi and give it a shot bass boost.

One thing they have in common is flexibility. Both of them sound good on all my amps (hybrid, SS, OTL tube and OTC tube).
The HS660S2's are also pretty easy to drive for a 300 Ohm 'phone.

My music is new rock, classic rock and horn jazz for the most part. Both do all very well.

I have both, and I would say yes. Different sound signature. I love my 660s2, my Grado 3000x, and my Focal Clear OG. I have a LOT of headphones, but will never part with these three...

Swapped in a higher power module from what I usually run (with IEMs) in my DAP to try out with the S2 and it sounds really good. Not quite as fast and tight as it is with the Jot2, but still very enjoyable. This is fast becoming one of my favorite headphones.The 109 Pro might have a slight edge in terms of musicality (and bass!), but no need to EQ the S2 is a huge plus.
