Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

The 660S are so far my go-to open-back headphone. I love the sound and they seem to be just right for what I like (could stand to be more comfortable, but that's my only complaint). I'm excited to try these. Though I know the 660S also came way down in price over the years, so if it's truly $600 I may have to wait a bit.

  • Double the sound pressure at the lowest octaves: You can feel the lowest note on the piano (27.5 Hz) or the kick of the bass drum (45-60 Hz) as if you were there, at the recording studio

Well, if the build quality is compatible with the hd6 line there should be a very robust used market with tons of life left in the cans.

Did you heard these new headphones?

If not? Why say its overpriced?
I've bought two 660s in the past. One open box for 220€, one new for 285€. HD600s for 250€ and I remember a pair of "used" brand new HD650 for 140€. These price are super appropriate and totally worth it. I mean, everybody has their own "what's this thing worth" drawer in their mind, right ? Nothing wrong with buying anything for any sum of money if it's worth it to you.

On another note I'm really looking forward to some sound impressions and more detailed specs like sensitivity and are they using new different pads than older 600 series sets.

If the first graphs are representative it seems that the new model tries to get closer to the Harman curve. More bass and more treble. But I think that the HD 6** family does not need any more mid-bass or higher bass though it looks that it has been added. Only more sub-bass was missing and a well controlled one. Also, the newly added treble could be a little too much. However, in use it might be found to be ok, if it is mostly the higher treble that is affected. Anyway, a rather unexpected but very interesting product!
