I may be mistaken but my guess is that when the 600's were originally designed, portability wasn't a consideration. Wearing full sized cans on the go wasn't done back than.
ideal headphones for home listening even if you dont have strong source/amplifier but i couldnt wear them outside and headphones which cant be used anywhere loose meaning to me. i rather pay extra money for audio technica expensive portables... its like wearing jewel on your ears compared to these

I think he gets the picture now.

Newsflash: open headphones were designed to minimize backwaves bouncing back and around inside the chamber, not for wearing outside. That's why people on this thread have IEMs and recommendations for similar, complimentary IEMs have been asked here before. That you can use them with many mainstream sources is just a bonus for when the power's out and you don't have such IEMs yet (works fine, but not spectacular, out of my iPad2; useless with my old Creative DAPs as full volume isn't even near 3/4 on the iPad2 and they're already distorting badly).
How is the voice coil connected to the spring?
Does the spring basically straighten out which is what causes the intermittent connection with the cable pin? By re-bend, I take it you mean to try to put it to back to its original spring shape?
what amp do you use?
