Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

With another amp coming in late next week, I'm still exploring the capabilities of the HD600. I've been really happy with each transition of the past 4 amps, so we'll see how it goes this round.

just recieved my cardas cable for my hd600 and wow what a difference, beautiful hi's and a deep low bass and the midrange is as wonderfull as ever. i would highly recomend new cables for the hd600, i have not tried any other cables but anything has got to be better than the crappy cable that comes with such a fantastic headphone

The HD-580 is awfully close. My brother-in-law has a HD-580 and I had the HD-600 for awhile. Other than cosmetics, I had a hard time telling them apart.

If you found a good deal on the HD-580, go for it! They're great headphones. I sure wish they were still blowing them out for $150.

Just want to chime in.

Due to an extended trip to China, Korea and then working in Hong Kong, I only took my ES5s along with me.
It wasn't before long I craved for some over the head phones.
So I purchased a set a HD600s from a local audio store in HK.

I have been burning them in and listening to them through:
24/96 > foobar + WASAPI > iBasso D6
... and am quite impressed!

I was worried I wouldn't like them (thought I was not a fan of the Sennheiser house sound) but am glad I did purchase them.
Totally different from my ES5 and HF2, less fatiguing, very comfortable, very expansive soundstage and can listen to them non stop.
However, I am not getting any WOW factor from them... like I did from my ES5.
Maybe I've been spoiled but they just do not feel as involving as the ES5 and HF2.
Guess I can't pass judgement till I return home and try them out on my desktop amp.

hmm an 8 year old hd580 will have the older drivers though so the new hd600s will sound a little different. The value just depends whether you are going to end up with the 600s anyway due to the different sound of the newer drivers. If that is the case, you might have spent less in the long run by getting some new hd600s.

For $125 he'll have no problem selling for the same amount if not more so can't say it was a bad decision. I would jump on that deal even though I already have the 600.

I found someone on NY craigslist selling the 580 for $285. He claims they are in mint condition lol
