After much talk and no action, we have secured a meeting place and time.
Head-Fi Seattle/Eastside Meet
Who: Registered members of Head-Fi
When: Noon to 5pm on May 26 (Saturday)
Where: Bellevue Regional Library, Meeting Room 3
Cost: Free. Donations accepted to cover cost of drinks and snacks. Any money left over will be donated to Head-Fi.org.
For those unfamiliar with the meeting room, it a large meeting room with enough tables and seats for 16 (that's the library's occupancy number). There's actually space for more people. It's a very nice room, and I'm very excited about the location.
The room will be divided into gears section (where the tables are) and snacks and drinks section. This is to prevent possible damage to gear and give people a place to talk.
Please reply to this thread if you are planning to attend and list what gear you will bring. Bring your ears, gear and ethusiasm. And don't forget to bring your own power cables, extension etc.
I will update this post with more details as we go.

I'd like to attend. Do I need to register or do anything else to attend?
No, just show up. We like to keep the meet open to all members. However, I do recommend that you reply to this thread to let us know that you're coming.
Can I bring a friends/family/kids?
Sure, within limits. We're always happy to attract others to our addiction. Please make sure they understand the basic tips, especially about treating equipment with respect.
Unless you have well-behaved, quiet kids, please consider leaving them at home or having the family hang out in the library. Bellevue Regional Library is the largest King County library with much to offer kids.
Who pays for the meet?
Donations are welcome to cover the cost of drinks and snacks, but are not necessary to attend. Any money left over will go to support the Head-Fi.org web site.
Can I buy/sell gear at the meet?
You're welcome to come and show off your gear. If you have product for sale, you're welcome to bring it. Just remember that this is primarily a listening forum. Focus on letting people audition your gear, and keep the marketing to the side. The library specifically asked me whether sales will take place during the meeting, and I did say no.
Do I have to bring gear?
No. If you have no gear or just can't bring it for whatever reason, just bring your ears. Don't leave your headphones at home just because they're crappy and think noone else wants to hear them. It might be helpful for you to use them to compare with something familiar.
Is my gear safe? Do I need to watch it all the time?
Maybe we've been lucky, but most head-fi members would agree that the head-fi community is trustworthy and you can leave your gear unguarded at a meet. So far no one's lost any gear at a meet except little things like cables, adaptors, and CDs. These inevitable get mixed up by accident. You might want to clearly label your cables and adapters so people don't forget and pack it by accident when they break down. If you're concerned, watch your gear, or ask someone you trust to watch it. If you do lose something, just post in the meet impression thread. There's a good chance you'll get it back.
