Awesome! glad to help!

I'm really interested to hear a tube amp as I haven't before, and the woodie AT's and the HF-2.

What else is going to be there? Is the HD800 making an appearance?

I'm bringing the Elekit TU-882 valved amp using Western Electric 396A bottles.
PM Markj or Kelvinz to ascertain that one of these guys is bringing the HD 800 along. I'll bring my Hi-Res music server as well. I have 24/192 samples from 2L of Norway and would welcome other 24/96 or better tracks in WAV, FLAC or ALAC to use at the meet.

Still don't know for sure but I might be able to make this. Probably not for the after meet. If I do, I'll be bringing the L3000/DHA3000 combo.

Unfortunately it will need to be Markj as I will be out of town that week.

Oh man I would LOVE to hear those L3000's, they're like... my dream can haha.

I almost blew the money I was saving for my next car on them when they popped up in FS in amazing condition... I'll get some eventually when I'm at a different stage of life and can afford such luxuries though :p Can't finish off the journey already! haha.

I got lucky. I got these before the prices jumped. Even at that price, I had to pay for them by selling my Grado PS-1. I got those at original cost and then sold them a year later for the price of the L3000. For the DHA3000, I sold my amp and dac and it cover most of the cost. I believe that has even gone up in price.

Anyway, I am quite happy with the sound. I'll try certain songs that I know didn't sound right on my former setups and they sound perfect to me now. Even so, I'm still curious about the HD800 and PS1000. Also wondering if the HF-2 sounds anything like the PS-1.

Agree with Mike, the previous setup - the MAD Ear and Electrocompanient DAC are too bold for L3000. Recently, I had a chance to try the Elecrocompanient DAC again and found it has quite warm and warmer than my PS Audio Digital Link DAC. No doubt, when pairing with RCA 12BH7A on MAD Ear, it makes sound too warm for L3000. (although I like the quantity of bass L3000 presented on that setup.

) DHA3000 makes L3000 sounds really balanced. I wished I can afford that.

However, I'm so happy with my setup now and have no plan to get new high-end headphone unless HD800 is too superior to deny.

For me, it was the bass that I had a problem with on the old setup. The bass just didn't have enough control and was too slow. I kind of liked the overall warm sound and it took me a little while to appreciate the cleaner sound of the DHA3000. But in the end, the L3000 is already a warm headphone, so the DHA3000 does a great job of balancing it out. That amp can sound bright with other headphones but then you can always use the tone controls.

Wittyz, how's you're modified AT with the L3000 driver? Sound anything like the original? I guess we can do a direct head-to-head if I can make it.
