I used this method to repair all of my old rare out of production CDs that get scratched up. Quite handy too because you can eat the banana afterwards, which is good for you.
Does it work like a thinning agent or like a filler? I know that there's also the toothpaste, method, too, which seems to "even" out the surface rather than filling the scratches.
Personally, I prefer the Permanent Marker method to fix my disks. Just get a marker and draw over the scratches. The ink in the marker helps to fill in the gaps.
