That is a 12AU7 --> 5670 adapter from Xuling Audio Lab, a long-time reputable Ebay seller. [If you want one or more, act promptly. I have read that Mrs Xuling is closing shop soon.]

Buying an amp just so I have an excuse to use certain tubes isn’t crazy, right?

I bought this pair years ago to upgrade the input tubes on my PrimaLuna power amp, but one got a little noisy 6 months in. Then tried them on my MZ3, but while they worked fine for preamp duties they were a little too polite for headphones. They’re such great sounding tubes though.

A note on MZ3: the manual, as well as the people, from LTA say that the 20x gain for 12AU7 -- vs 60x gain for 12AT7 -- will make MZ3 sound a bit docile. The MZ3 was designed around 12SN7 (6SN7) + 12AT7.
