No one is high strung, just factual., Skin effect takes place at high frequencies and generally outside the audible range. At high frequencies hollow core cable can be used but that is RF.

Checked an online guage calculator… seems most likely my cables are made of 60 strands of 20 guage each, netting 2 guage. Again, didn’t do an exact count.

That sounds good and properly addresses my question (just a question not an affirmation of improper cabling) in contrast to the aggressive/improper reaction it ensued. Years ago there was a fade about solid core cabling and that, if overdone, will act as a LPF (tapering the treble) due to skin effect.

That is a very good strand count for such cable. I have little doubt that you are enjoying your system’s SQ.

No such claim is made. Best I could find for my Apogees at near zero cost - yes. Best, nope. At the time the Symo cable (wicked expensive, and recommended by Jason Bloom at Apogee) were audibly better, but they were epically costly, IIRC over $2K for a pair back then. I decided industrial (literally) was fine.

I’ve no idea what they sound like on any speakers other than Apogees and my old Vandersteen IIc’s (where they worked well also).

So, not objectively (nor necessarily subjectively) the “best”.

That said, if anyone can find such cabling cost-effectively today, it’d be well worth experimenting in my experience.

The only option initially close in price/performance is the five finger discount which is the most expensive long-term choice.

I remember those days; we built a custom set of interconnects using solid core (18 or 20 ga IIRC) spaced narrowly apart in parallel and pressed carefully on sticky sided teflon tape,

It definitely had a very pronounced warm and flabby character, which comports to your observations as well

The Real Ale beers are great. I spent six weeks in Dallas last year and found these in Target a few days after I arrived. Went through quite a few over the six weeks!

I really admire their approach. From the start, they never wanted to move beyond Texas, and despite some quite substantial offers from outside sources to expand distribution, they’ve stuck to that for damn near 30 years.

You could probably crap that copper and have enough for some expensive "better" cabling but I would never. 2guage is crazy.
