[Review] EQu parametric EQ for the iPodtouch/iPhone/iPad

Yes you choose songs from the app itself. EQu has a solid interface where you pretty much get to choose things like the Ipod UI but the artists don't have the albums separated like the latter. You can shuffle through all your songs or through playlists, artists and albums. Equalizer only enables you to choose songs based on making a playlist which is less intuitive but still solidly usable and you can shuffle through them. EQu supports Album Art but not Equalizer.

everything you said about "equalizer" in this post is false... just so you know

An explanation would be quite useful and much more productive, but let's see...

OK
Actually Equalizer does support Album Art but you have to choose the playlist and then hit the album button if that's what you meant (It doesn't have it as a display function unlike EQu). It still seems to be based on making playlists though so I don't have anything else for that. Equalizer does sound more accurate though so I'll add that to balance things out, but Equalizer still needs work UI wise.

i didnt have time to elaborate.. sorry... anyway you can search through equalizer by artist, album, and all other standard ipod methods, however you do have to create  an "on the fly" playlist as it were.

you can see album art when you hit album, i guess thats the bottom line.. it is viewable so that means it supports it.

IMO equalizer in its current version is the clear winner over EQU, but each time they update, one trumps the other..

Which one eats up more battery? I haven't had enough time to just kick back and listen to tunes lately, to know for sure. (not to mention that I have 4 other players too, and one that I got more recently)

i dont know either, but given the frequency with which equ skips or stutters while listening, i would guess it is using more resources, and thus sucking more power, but thats just a guess.

Hmmm.....it doesn't do that on mine. I will say EQu seems to eat up serious juice, almost like wifi, not sure how much of it is the fact the screen stays on.

On the other hand, I tried adding all songs to Equalizer earlier (I wanted to do a comparison of it to EQu again), to shuffle everything on the player, and it crashed, and now it won't start. The circle comes up where it says "checking for previous playlist" and that's as far as it gets now....and after a few minutes of that it will shut down. So at this point, I'm not sure what to think.
Edit for clarity: there are 3,518 songs on the player.

yeah they both crash once in a while... fully closing and reopening helps

i have less than 2k but they are all lossless.
maybe mine skips b/c i use lossless? i dunno.. i heard someone else mention skipping onnce.. dont remember where or why though...
as far as i know their skipping due to intensive resource use was also a theory, but im not sure.

No skipping or crashing on my end and I also use all lossless. But then again, I don't use the apps all that much. Tried what Achmedisdead did to shuffle through all my songs in Equalizer and it took forever to boot up and didn't crash but I'm sure it would've done so with a lot more songs put together.

Update.....After removing some music from the player (partly because I wanted to fit a 720p concert video on), now with 3,408 songs, I did get it to start, so it seems like it is OK now. You guys are using lossless, I have all MP3 on it, LAME V2, V0, and 320kbps.

What does this mean? Does it mean that you see a list of the artist's songs, but they are not grouped into albums?  Are the songs grouped alphabetically?

You see list of all artist's songs not grouped into albums, but listed in album's track order.  FE

The Cure - Disintegration - Plainsong
The Cure - Disintegration - Closedown
....

The Cure - Pornography - 100 Years
etc, etc

Ugh, kinda kludgy... , I might have to hold off on that iPod touch purchase for a little while longer.

I tried it with an iphone 3G and line-out/LOD it worked.

Only tried Equalizer App though, (EQu doesn`t work with 3G iphone).

*multi thread post, sorry.

Using EQu, I'd like a bar to move forward with the song. Right now I have to hear everything from the start like an 8-track. It also skips when I turn the screen off, whether or not other apps are open, so I have to keep it on and if I put it in my pocket, I can accidentally change the equalizer or whatever.
