Has anyone tried this amp with the D7000s? I'm considering picking some up....

Thanks Miguel. Looks like you enjoyed the Denons a lot with this amp. Now I am extra tempted. I'm currently using the DT990 250 Ohm, but they tend to be a bit sibilant with the 5670 tubes. From what I've read, all the Denon cans sound smooth, so combining them with the Elekit sounds like a match made in heaven.

I am seriously considering this amp. Currently using D2000 & DT880 250ohms out of Compass. Not really happy with how the DT880 sounds out of the compass compared to the D2000. Everything sounds a bit less lively. Is it just a burn-in issue (DT880 is new with maybe 10 hrs on it, D2000 easily has 100 hrs plus)?
Considering this amp to give Tube amps a shot...never tried one before. Also, based on mrarroyo's review D2000 shouldn't sound bad either. Hopefully, DT880 will get a boost too ? Any inputs will be helpful? Thanks

10 hours typically isn't enough time for burn-in. I've noticed on my headphones that dynamics is one thing that is "stiff" at first. Give it some more time.

Just being curious though! Other than that, great review!

Using my 990 600ohms, no hum at all. The pairing is transcendent!

How's the synergy with the 650's? Looking into getting into Grado's or Senn's, and am curious how they stack up with the Beyer's on the Elekit.

To be honest, it really surprised me! I always thought the Senn's were "just ok" when I used them the Little Dot MKV. Now I find them very nice and I never thought it could have such nice bass as well. I think it will definitely stack up. With the Senn's you can have a more laidback sound (very nice with jazz, blues)

And if you're in the mood for something more upfront you can always reach for the Beyers. I know for sure I won't sell my HD 650's! So yes, they have great synergy!

I would like to put another vote for Elekit. It has revived my Sennheiser HD800, which are pecular headphones (in some respect) and not-so-easy-to drive as it may seems and compared to HD 650.

The sound is VERY detailed, airy, enough of low end bass.... The only complaint so far - some recordings are difficult to listen to (some just absolutely lovely!), highs getting a bit bright... WE tubes might solve this, I hope so.

hi skylab ,

How does the TU-882 compare to the Bijou with their original supplied tubes? Does Bijou offer a good improvement over the Tu-882. Which one will be more versatile? (when matching with lower, mid and high impedence cans)

Both will be DIY kits and probably cost the same for me to build here in Australia...so I would really appreciate any advice.

I want to pair the amp with Audio Technica's, Beyer DT-531 and later DT-880, maybe Grado's MS series later

and its my first post, after reading and learning a lot on head-fi
