Review: Cavalli Liquid Lightning

Maybe it's just me but I don't get if anything is cleared. An amp that expensive should at least be built with the best build quality, design and parts. Look at how BHSE is made. That is the benchmark.

Yes.  How it "looks" is the benchmark.  I would love if one of the headphone gatherings had a blind test between different amps of every ilk.  Its not like speaker rigs.  All you'd have to do is have the phone cable switched to different amps behind a blind.

He was the best.

MWilson, Howzit?  Loved your comment in the other thread about sucking all the fun out of music and too much into equipment.  See you no longer have the 009's.  Must be digging the Liquid Glass!

Liquid Glass is collecting solid dust. I haven't listened to it and my LCD-3 in months; just no time. Alas, lately it seems that my only listening is at the gym, so I got a RWAK120 and SE846 for this purpose.

You are a much braver man than me to take that stuff to the gym.  I use a lowly sansa clip->JH13FP.  If I had an LG I'd bring it to the office as I don't get much listening at home these days. The only downside would be my looking so happy after those late nights at the office insinuating I'm acting with infidelity when I am so happy precisely because of the fidelity I'm having listening to my jam (sesame street putting on a "peter and the wolf" production is my jam by the way.)

I only listen to music during the cardio part of my workout, so that makes it 30 minutes, 3 times a week = 90 minutes. Considering how little this is, I just had to have some good sound. I'm not a big fan of IEMs, but it is what it is. I also have a JH3A/JH16 rig which I don't really like and will most likely end up selling.

As far as taking the LG to work, it's not a practical option for me, given that I'm seemingly always in meetings or conferences. I'm just not listening to music at work - ironic, come to think of, since our company is in the business of audio streaming (got over a couple thousand radio stations on our network).

I saw and listen to a prototype Liquid Lightning II hybrid amplifier. IMO this hybrid version sounds much neutral and balanced with the SR-009 compared to the SS version. Alex is not sure if he will put it into production. I bet if there is interest and demand he will. I already told him I would get one. Sorry, I did not take pictures of it.

Based on an Alex email. They are going to produce 30 units this run and can be of any combination between SS and Hybrid.

FWIW:  I checked with Alex a week ago and he described the build differences between the LL and LL2.  Without recalling all the changes he enumerated there were changes that went to the sound quality and not just cosmetic changes to the case.
