Hey guys,

My Denon D2000 stopped working and since that model does't seem to get produced anymore I'm looking for a different headphone.

I want something with a similar sound; deep (but not overpowering) bass, pleasant highs and a warm sound in general.
It will be used at home on my computer(with a X-Fi Elite Pro soundcard) only so I don't care about stuff like sound leakage or weight. It should just be comfortable to wear even after several hours.

I wanna spend up 300€ for a new headphone.

Any suggestions?

Denon D600 sounds similar to the original, uber comfy and good sound without an amp.

I'd try and get it repaired first.

Repair costs would have been 348€. So I'd rather get a new headphone instead.

Really? Well under that price in the UK, worth ordering from here then.

Thank you for the link. Sadly I don't own a credit card so can't buy from there. :frowning2:

I suggest the AKG K550 over the D600.

I chose these reviews as I agree with most of their findings.

I own the AH-D2000 and am very surprised at how well the AKG K550 does at representing the sound of the AH-D2000.  To me it is an easy choice.

Does it have the bass of the Denon's?

Both sides and the pads need to be replaced too. Like I've said I don't want to repair them since it's too expensive.

I remember trying some AKG headphones when I've bought the Denon. They had a very cold sound with no bass whatsoever but things seem to have changed now.

So it's basically down to the AKG K550 or the Denon D600 then.
Thanks everybody and if there are any more recommendations feel free to post them :)

Here are some charts comparing the AH-D2000 to the AKG K550.

Frequency response showing the AKG K550 is quite capable in the bass region as well as remaining really neutral.

The 50Hz square wave shows a swift rise time and even less decay than the D2000.

I posted these as I cannot remember specifically how the bass sounded different, but I do remember the headphones sounding remarkably good and close to the D2000.
