Rank the Headphones that You Own.

So not worth if you already have R9 even if it going for less than half its original price?

Oh, to me it's definitely worth it. It's just to most people I think they'd find them to be at best not worth the price increase, and at worst more uneven sounding.

1. Denon AH-D5200: These are my newest acquisition and I'm still getting used to their sound. Many describe them as having a warm sound, but they are probably the most neutral of my small collection. Bass is solid, but lacks some impact. Midrange is rich and smooth, rather than sharp and analytical, thank goodness. I really dislike headphones that pick apart the sound. Treble is inoffensive, which is also my preference.

2. Philips Fidelio X2: An old favorite, and one of the only open-backs I've kept for long. Good bass for an open back, and an overall warm tone. I've beat my set to death and have had to repair it a few times, but it still sounds good. The X2 does have a touch of sibilance now and again. I use them for movies a lot these days, as their wide soundstage works well for that task.

3. Creative Aurvana Live!: No one would recognize my set as a CAL!. I've had to improvise a new headband, I've replaced the too-small earpads with some from a HyperX Cloud headphone, and I've replaced the backs with teak cups that I made myself. Their sound is still rich and immersive. They won't win any contests on resolution, but they have a warm, relaxing sound that is impossible to beat at their price point.

4. Hifiman HE-R9 (Woodie): Again, few would recognize these. The sound of the HE-R9 was so disappointing out of the box that I decided to do some necessary surgery. I got rid of those ridiculous, angled cups, and replaced them with wooden cups that I made. This got rid of the distortion and booming mid-bass that was overwhelming everything else. They still have a slightly prominent bass response, but my modification improved the set into something worthwhile. Not quite an all-rounder, but when I'm in the mood for bass heavy music, these can shine.

5. Koss Porta-Pro: Don't use these much any more. Decent, but prominent bass and a little muddy.

6. AKG K240 Studio: My least favorite set. Dull and lifeless. If the backs hadn't cracked for no reason whatsoever, I'd have gotten rid of them years ago. I refuse to listen to music with them. They exist to provide sound on my third computer, so I can watch videos there. I may hold a bonfire at some point with them.

1: RAAL CA-1A
2. Abyss 1266
3: T+A Solitaire T
4 Moondrop Para
5: Abyss Diana Phi/DCA Stealth
6: audeze mm-500
7: HD650
8: ATH M50

The CA-1A as long as well powered is great and enjoyable to use. The abyss gets second cause it’s hard to wear and but with a slightly better sound to me.

Solitaire T is my everyday headphone and I think it sounds great except for soundstage. Moondrop Para is a surprise as I enjoy it a whole lot more then my Diana phi and stealth. Diana Phi and Stealth is at the same level, not that their sound is worst then para, but more like the genra I listen to is better off abit more on the cool and airy side.

Well Since my 2 channel system is my priority … I limit myself to only one open back and one closed back.

so of my 2
1. Kennerton Rognir Planar
2. Meze Elite

I have a Modhouse Tungsten on the way to see if it can outduel the Meze. I also have a B&O h6 which doesnt really belong on this list as it is only brought out for a travel.
