Question about amps for the Stax SR-009

"If you're willing to go down the DIY route, you might want to get somebody to build you a Megatron. I think everybody who's built one so far has said they prefer it to the KGSSHV for driving the SR-009s."

Agree! :)
Better yet: build it yourself.
Thank you Kevin Gilmore!

Why did you keep the Sigma/404 over the SR007 ?

Not sure how much. More than I expected and more that my wife knows  .
I love the Sigma 404. I can buy an 007 anytime I want. Cannot buy a Sigma/404 that easily

Been there, done that. Sounds like every project I've ever built.

Congratulations on a superb build of a superb amp. I am really looking forward to hearing this amp, Just looking at the circuit , it looks like something I would be attracted to.

Like to hear your comparisons of this amp and the KGSSHV with the 009's.

Thanks Frank.
To tell you the truth, I just put it together.
All it takes is patience to do this (with a big emphasis on safety with high voltage).
You on the other hand, really know your stuff

And Kevin Gilmore and Spritzer.

It would great to see more people in this forum to start building again.
This is how everything started.
It is so much fun and much better than just buying.
And if somebody out there say they know nothing about it, that they have no idea how to solder or read schematics, I was in your shoes 3 years ago.
If I can do it, any of you can do it also.

That's awfully tempting when we see what you've achieved Gilency. Congrats!!

I work 12 days straight, at least 12 hours each day, then followed by a few days "off" still full of administrative work.
Time is something I don't have, but doing this helps relieve stress for me

I think for many who 'just buying', like me, it's not about knowledge but about time!
Congratulations for the build, it looks so nice and I'm sure your amp is a wonderful match for the 009s

I'm in the same boat.  Having a young daughter is no easy task.  I hope to start building one day as well when I have more time.  I really admire those who can create such precious and wonderful sounding amps.

Thanks Purk and Gilency for your suggestions.
That Megatron seems interesting indeed. Like to hear some impressions about it.
Any people on here who are buildeing them for others?
I guess it's something I could learn as well but my schedule for the time being is way too busy.

Your best bet is to look out for one in the F/S section. Ha. Other than that, Geoff hasn't as of yet taken on the Megatron.
I talked to him about a T2 he said no, so this may be too much work for him. You can always ask him to commission you a build.
