I must say though, in general conversation I tend to find it more convenient to simply use "feet" and "inches."  Not sure why though.  Maybe I'm just a hypocrite in disguise.

i do that to, for example i don't say im 1.524m tall i am say i am 5 feet 6 inches. i also use pounds more often then kilograms.

weird enough, in my country we use metric system but when you go buy gas for the car they sell it "by gallons" nationwide
