Katun, what do you own now? You go through headphones more than anyone else I know. XD

Still got my beloved PX100-II. I would never, ever part with those! They're kinda taking out the HD600 right now. Sound splendid out of the Valhalla.

But the HD600 is slowly losing my interest. So I'm revisiting the Q701. And in case that doesn't work, I'll pick up the SRH1440 and run for the hills!

Interesting......I have a pair of PX 100-ii which I use quite a bit of out almost anything with a headphone jack.
But for whatever reasons, I could never warm up to the HD600, HD650, etc.
However, the HD800s may be the ultimate 'phone (well, in my opinion)!

I honestly think the HD598, HD600, and HD650 are all side steps from the PX100-II. But indeed, my dream headphone is the HD800.

I'm finding even the HD600 too thick and sleepy. I need something lighter, airier, and more forward. Q701 is the first thing that comes to mind.

EDIT: Haha, seems the PX100-II sounds about the same out of the Asgard, Valhalla, and iAudio 9. HD600 however benefits from an amp.

That's the K601 IMO (or the Q701). Too bad the K601 is too hard to find now at a decent price. To me the K601 is a mix of some things in the HD-600 and K702.
Much warmer than the Q701 and has less treble.

Too bad the K601 is really bad out of the Asgard.

As for the HD-600 being "too thick and sleepy". The HD-580 is the fix for me. More treble and more forward upper mids than the HD-600. Sounds way clearer too and I think that's due to the reduced mid-bass and more treble. Too bad you can't just buy HD-580 grills since it uses the same driver

Right now i'm a huge fan of the 580, but the HD-600 bores me to death. It's mids aren't forward enough for me. I don't even get this idea that the HD-600 is neutral.

LOL!
Oh no!
You are so wrong!
The PX 100-ii is way more comfortable than the HD650.

Seriously, I couldn't get past the high-pressure, head-clamp effect on the HD650.
I'm surprised at how good the PXs sound at work thru my PC and an iBasso D12 DAC/amp.

A while back, I thought the HD598 was amongst some of the most comfortable headphones ever. And that's saying something, because I'm uber-picky when it comes to comfort. Anyway, they actually started to bother me after extended sessions (talking only a few hours here) and that's a huge reason I got the PX100-II. But I do find the HD600 and HD650 quite comfortable, you just have to bend the metal adjusters. Both headbands are the best in the business in my opinion, with the KRK headphones and Q701 being the worst. But anyway, I find the PX100-II easily the most comfortable headphone ever, but that's partially a given due to how light it is. Especially though, when you bend the headband a bit, it just kinda floats on your head. Love the sound, love the comfort, love the size.

PX100-II is so severely underrated IMO.

I suspect the HD600 sounds more like the HD580 out of the Valhalla, but I don't think it's worth $350 just to "brighten" the HD600's stock sound. That's what the SRH1440's are for.

So perhaps the HD580 would be a better match for my preference. Because I'm squeezing every bit of brightness out of the HD600 that I can! (Valhalla + stock cable). Love a bit more clarity too.

I think the HD600 is an ace at doing nothing wrong, but it doesn't do anything superbly either. I'm finding I like a more polarizing sound. But I agree, the midrange while nice, isn't up to where I want it.

The PX 100 II is a cool little headphone.  Too me they sound dark, punchy, and smooth.  I think that velvety smoothness helps them sound good no matter what the setup is.

Probably not something I'd personally like for music (don't like too much warmth and smoothness), but I do like how they're sorta like KSC35s with a headband.

BTW, I absolutely hated the PX200-II or whatever. It was a bitch to get to sit properly. Any slight movement would destroy the SQ.

Just got the E10 today, and I've gotta admit, it's my favorite pairing with the Q701.

Really?  It's good for $80 $70, but I'd still take a desktop amp over it any day.

Just recieved mine in black. Paired with my DT990pros I feel for myself I have the perfect combination of headphones.
Now the hunt for an amp begins, this thing goes loud enough with my comp but I have almost every source topped out. Q easily takes 3 times more volume then my Beyers.
