Yeah thanks, I don't know what the mag is.
I never crop any of my shots be it macro or other things.
I reverse mount my Zuiko 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 on my Olympus E-410 and put a homemade diffuser on my popup flash, put the flash at full or 1/4 depending on ambient light, put the lens at f/8 or 11 and ISO is from 100 to 400. Shutter speeds around 1/80 at least and all the way to 1/180. I can't imagine what I would do with the MPE 65mm!! :D

Damnit, why would you shoot anything dead?Would you shoot crap? A dead human body? Cut off finger? Have some respect for that animal as well as some standard. Nothing personal but I hate when I see photography of dead things or in the case of street photography, beggars etc.
Here's something nicer.

It certainly sounds like something personal.
Shooting dead/gross things just for the shocking effect is kind of stupid.
But that's clearly not what Jon intended.
There is beauty in death. Just look at von Hagens Körperwelten exhibitions. It's certainly not for everyone, but there is also nothing wrong with it. Death is just a thing that happens and we all have to face it one way or another. As long as it is portrayed with dignity, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it IMO.

I did the usual run to a local park to take pictures of the cherry blossoms before the rain takes them away for another year.

When I was in Biomedical photography school in the mid 1980s this kid comes running into our lab asking us to take close-ups of this funny silver disk. I had never seen one?

I can't say I agree, but what the heck, I removed it since maybe others feel as you do.  I *will* say that photo still speaks to me on a primal level every time I look at it.

I also find the total duality of life a great photographic subject. Still I would rather photograph nice stuff. It can't be argued that dark photographs, of war, changed people.

I personally don't feel there's something wrong with it, but with so many viewers from different backgrounds, reactions are hard to predict.

That said, I'd probably use a spoiler tag for a shot like that, so people can opt to see.
