Yep, for portability just 3-4 feet is more than enough, but for my home rig I prefer a 10-12 feet cable, so I can lie down on the coach which is a bit more than 9 feet away from the rig, and the wire rests over the carpet. I don't like it to keep raised and in tension. I prefer it this way than a shorter wire from the HPs and having to use an extension cable.
