Been a while since I was here, but here's my current PC.

Ghetto anti-sag technology and all.

Nice rig mate, are those Noctua iPPC fans I'm seeing? And what cards are those?

Yep, all of them at 2k but the exhaust near the CPU is 3k. Run them all at minimum though, quite loud haha, got a little over zealous with them. Those are two Sapphire 290 Vapor-X, didn't overclock them though.

Yeah I almost want to build a second PC or NAS or whatever it's called JUST for music and streaming video so I won't have to deal with loud ass fans on the gpu and cpu while I'm trying to justify $1,000 open back headphones 3 feet away. Listening to music through a super weak and silent rig where you don't hear the hum of fans lol.

It's only 70 degrees in the middle of the night right now, but it's been 90 + fahrenheit everyday for the past couple of weeks in Oregon.  Really not too bad.  It just sucks having air conditioning that doesn't work on the second floor : /

A silent rig doesn't have to be weak, just have to get good fans and a good cooler. For CPU some Noctuas on it would be good, and some of the new GPUs literally never even spin under a small load, like the 960, doesn't even heat up enough for the fans to cool it with 4K x265 video going.

Currently slowly building a watercooled PC, waiting for EK 140mm fans and radiators. But mostly waiting for home renovations to have room for the build.

I have a 970 and fans don't even turn on until 60c. Card has stock ACX2.0 cooling and even when benchmarking with 3d firestrike and heaven I only get as high as 71 still a very mild fan spin up. Had water cooling on my cpu but when I put in a new mobo recently some of the pcb layout has changed and the mounting brackets don't clear some stuff so on stock hsf atm but my rig (i5 4690k and gtx970) games pretty damn well and is nearly whisper silent as is.

guess I should have went for a couple of new 970 SLi rather than 2nd-hand 780 SLi...

Furthermore, I might not need to replace my PSU with the 970 SLi. I reckon 850w would do just fine even under overclocking setup.

Anyone know what the 3DMark Firestrike scores of fairly overclocked (about 150mhz from stock, not extremely overclocked) 970 SLi is?

From a post of mine on another forum last week

Only a single 970 not sli but perhaps this helps

First of all my card is an EVGA gtx 970 SSC w/ ACX 2.0+ cooling.
The fans don't even come on until 60 C and my card even oc during firestrike never got higher than 71 so I used stock fan profile. I did 1 run at 100% fan and it sounded like a helicopter was taking off- f'ing loud as ****.

Since this card is a super superclocked base core clock is 1190 Mhz and boost clock is 1342 Mhz (standard 'reference' card is 1050/1178).
Ran firestrike default settings just prior to starting and got 9700 as is.

Well this card doesn't oc much at all (above the factory oc )
+95 on core clock stable
- crashed at +100 and trying to overvolt didn't help at all went as high as +45mv w no effect.

+250 memory stable - anomolies (banding and 'stripes') at 300 and didn't really check in between.

Best run firestrike run 10,347 which was an anomaly as all others were 10,100's

Talking to some others I got a good card as supposedly boost clocks hitting 1450 are golden and 1500+ boost clocks are unicorns.

Is 10.3k its graphics score? or overall score?

Surely the graphics score is much more than that as a single 780 scores 11.4k (sli off).

yeah guess I should have spent a bit more and go with new 970 sli... Oh well, gonna wait for 14nm before upgrading my GPUs again.

SilverStone SG-13B, holy cow. That is the entire case, with a 120MM fan for scale.

Same case opened up with a few things hanging off it. That is a 550Ti in there.

This case is amazing... getting the rest of the parts tomorrow, this is going to be a really fun build.

Edit: crappy pictures cause bad lighting and my OnePlus One is weird...

I've been thinking about going to a smaller case, I just worry about cable management. I don't wanna spend a bunch on custom ones just to get the fit. But only one GPU (970), one HDD and an SSD... not like I need a full case. I carry mine around enough to warrant something better.

I'll tell you how much I hate myself when I finish building it tomorrow, but this rig is going to have a non-modular PSU, so it'll be fun. From what I estimated, it should all fit in there.

I'm going with the stock Intel cooler (it's a Pentium G3258, not a power hungry thing), a reference 550Ti, then possibly a 650Ti Boost if I think it's worth it. It currently has a single 3.5" HDD, and  I might add another 2.5" HDD and an SSD.
