smily_headphones1.gif
 The ranking now is:

1. Beyerdynamic T90 (9,5/10)
2. Hifiman HE-400i (9/10)
3. Sennheiser HD650 (8/10)
4. Philips Fidelio X2 (7/10)

B&W P5 – 6
B&W P3 – 6 (these are good, but the materials used are not on par with the rest of the lineup)
B&W P7 – 7 (wonderful sound, but too heavy and uncomfortable)
B&W C5 S2 – 7
B&W P5 S2 – 8 (being wireless would give these 9
rolleyes.gif
)
B&W P5 Wireless – 9 (having either magnetic or wireless charger would make it 10!)

From this point on the rest of the brands really should step up in build quality...

B&O H6 – 6 (sound should be much more dynamic and plastic parts could be ditched from the design)
B&O H3 – 8 (cable quality should really be improved on these)

And from this point on the rest of the brands really should step up in build quality as well as product design...

Bose AE2 – 4
Bose QC20i – 6
Bose QC25i – 7

Sony MDR-10RBT – 5

Only stuff I own, as I feel it’s difficult to judge equipment on a short listen wholeheartedly. Basically I feel products that I demoed I may like better if I owned them, still you can’t buy everything.

10- Sony IER-Z1R Universal IEM 4.4mm
9- Sony Z1R Full-size 4.4mm
8- Sony Z7 Full-size 4.4mm
7- Noble K10 Encore Universal IEM Single-ended 3.5mm
6- Sony XBA-Z5 Universal IEM 4.4mm
5- BGVP DM6 Universal IEM 4.4mm
4- qdc Anole V3 Universal IEM 4.4mm
3- Sony N3 Universal IEM 4.4mm
2- Magaosi K5 Universal IEM 4.4mm
1- Koss Porta Pro Classic On-ear 3.5mm Single-ended
0- AKG k701 full-size headphone 1/4” Single-ended

In order of best to worst from the top down. My list changes all the time as I find stuff I like in a sound signature or change music genre emphasis. This list in ranking changes always with-out fail? Also I prefer IEMs over full-size headphones, but still feel I can made an objective list.

To me everything sounds close to the same sound signature with some having better technicality and performance. Obviously they don’t all sound exactly the same, but share the same overall vibe. The only three odd men out is the Noble K10 Encore, Magaosi K5 and AKG k701 which stay basically in contrast to the rest. It could be said the AKG k701,Encore and Magaosi K5 are complementary to the group.

Equipment Used:
Sony 1Z DAP
Sony 1A DAP
Sony TA-ZH1ES DAC/amp

Reference Guide:
IER-Z1R, basicly the perfect IEM for my wants, super comfortable and shows more detail than anything I own.

Z1R, the best full-size headphone I’ve heard. Obviously subjective, but it does what I’m looking for. Majestic soundstage and articulations.

Z7, maybe slighly more ergonomic than the Z1R; smaller. After finding the right cable and amp, the Z7 provides an exciting fun signature. Hand-made in Japan it displays quality and craftsmanship.

Noble K10 Encore, slighly thin from what I normally go for but contains amazing midrange and soundstage. Basicly a lot of fun and different to what I normally listen to. Ends a good point of reference in neutrality but still exciting and comfortable. It’s a character. Lol

DM6, fits like a glove, comfortable and fun. Maybe slighly granulated uptop but nice fast bass down low.

Z5, the entire sound was beat at it’s own game with the IER-Z1R. Still in it’s day it was one of a kind.

qdc Anole V3, perfect fit and build, comes across doing nothing wrong as well as offering great detail in it’s own slighly unique sound signature.

Sony N3, easy to wear, total Sony house Hi/Fi sound, with a warm slower bass responce, still natural and revealing uptop. The sleeper of my list here.

Magaosi K5, super midrange and fit, exciting sound signature though could use a dB of bass down low.

Koss Porta Pro, fun and legendary.

K701, exciting and detailed, well made and exceptional soundstage and speed.

I'll jump in...

Campfire cascade 9.5 (bass, bass, kids, treble, more bass)

Senn HD 580 7.5 (these sound great, but they don't scream at anything special)

Hifiman he 400i 6.0 (they're clean sounding, but ehhh)

Campfire comets 8.0 (they do nothing wrong my daily drivers)

Koss Portapro 7.0 (I've heard much better but they're so good for the price and so cool!)
