Thanks for letting me know Rhcw, I didn't know about the AV show. I'll see if I can wait that long since that is still a few months away. Hopefully I won't end up finding something around the same size at a much higher price point that I want. The lack of space is really reducing the number of options I have.

Hello HK HeadFiers,

I know this is Head-Fi, but my question is speakers related instead of headphones. Hopefully someone here can help me out. I'm looking to getting some desktop speakers with somewhat decent sound without too high of a price and was hoping to test out either the Swans M10 or Audioengine A2 as they seem to be within my budget (according to US online prices I've found, I have no clue where to find HK prices online) and small enough for the small rooms in HK. Headphones are nice, but summer is here and it is just way too hot for my V-MODA M100s. Does anyone know where I can find these speakers in Hong Kong? Or do you have any other recommendations that would be around this size and price? (I will be using them with my computer, iPod and smartphone.) Thanks for all the help!

Have you checked out the cheapo speaker shop in the street market in Shamshuipo?  Really cheap and decent sound coming in all sizes.

Although, I would try to find room for a larger speaker if I were you

Also I've got a measurement mic if you're interested in measuring and tuning your loudspeaker system after buying your speakers

Give me a yell if you're interested

Wouldn't have the first idea how to do that... do you have a loudspeaker system you want to measure instead?

I'd like to do some calibration work for my shelf speakers, and to examine effects brought by changing sources and the material underneath the speakers (currently using some stone plates)....

Will probably grab that mic online
size]

(So it gives a FR curve when you place it in front of the speakers and run a simple program?)

I have not checked the speaker shops in Shamshuipo yet but I might have to do just that and see what's available there.

If I could find room for larger speakers, I would definitely do it. Sadly, it isn't an option right now.

Measurement mic for measuring and tuning loudspeakers is something I've never heard of and would have no idea how to go about doing that. But I'll keep that in mind, thanks for the offer.

@tinton14, Rhcw
I was thinking I would "lend" my mic by taking along my mic and mic stand and computer to one of your places and with your permission goof off for a day setting things up and measuring stuff together, and maybe listen to some headphones we own too
biggrin.gif
That would take care of the "how" part of the measurement

If you're interested shoot me a pm and we can exchange contact details in private.  We can always meet outside for an audition trip or two in Mong Kok or Shamshuipo to get acquainted first before you decide whether to let me in your house.  Or you could come to my place in Shaukeiwan and listen to my calibrated system first

Or we could wait until the next Hong Kong meet to meet each other... I think that won't happen until at least the middle of July though... as two main HK members are visiting Japan until the end of June and I'll be busy for a while after that.

Looking at the present schedule I should have the most free time on 18 and 20-22 of this month.  (That's next Tuesday and Thursday-Saturday.)  How about you guys?

This pic was taken to show off the new 10" sub I just got back then but it's just this black box at the bottom looking boxy
